Shippers took the lead early today, mak

fering lowtW prices. Sellers, however, could
see no good reasons for making conces
sions, but believed that If anything the
market ought to be stronger, as supplies
were rather moderate compared with most
of the runs during the last ten days. Ship
pers were buying rather freely and prices
lately have been, if anything, a little, low
compared with other markets on account
of the heavy runs here. By mldforenoon
some of the buyers had raised their hands
a tittle and movement started on a steady
to 6c higher basis, though, as was the case
yesterday, part of the packera wero back

It settled down to about a steady market
for desirable holes.
Before anything like a clearance had
been made the demand seemed to go to
pieces altogether. Bellera found bids with
drawn and the next offers they got showed
sharp reductions, buyers wanting the de

but most sellers who bad decent hogs left
had refused to cut loose at such great

It was the same old story. A few sold
early at satisfactory prices, but b,uyra left
most of them for the close, when they
were wanted only at big reductions or not
at all. ;s . - . .
