M. Tellitier. M. J. Powers left Monday evening for Chicago. Miss Emma Bock, who is attend ing the Chicago university, is here for the holidays. Guy Shepard left Monday evening for Chicago after spending Christ mas with relatives here. Mrs. J. C. Aid returned Monday evening from Rrownsville, Tex., where she went to visit her son. Gail Aid, who ts with the troops there, and who has been seriously ill. Miss Jennie Mae Smith arrived Sunday morning from Obscuro. V M., where she is a teacher in the public schools, to spend the holiday vacation with relatives and friends. Mrs. W. J. McCune, formerly of this cty, is spending a few weeks with her son, Ford McCune. on Gra ham avenue. Mrs. McCune's home is now in Creston. H. J. Chambers, well-known attor ney and former clerk of the district court, is able to be out. after being confined to his home by ill-health for some time. Miss Anna Sperling left Wednes day for Los Angeles, CaL, where she will spend the winter. Dr. Mac Hanchett left Tuesday rrening for Chicago after spending Christmas with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. A. P. Hanchett. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Hodge left Wednesday for their home in Seat tle, Wash, after an extended visit at the home of Mrs. Hodge's mother, Mrs. John Beno. Rom to Mr. and Mrs. Homer C. Shaffer at Mercy hospital Christmas morning, a baby girl. Mrs. Shaffer was formerly Miss Hesse White. Announcements have been received in Omaha and Council Bluffs from Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Hennessey have as their house guests Mr. and Mrs. Ozro Hill of Frecport, III., and the Misses Cornelius of Marion, la. Mrs. Max Bussclle of West Plains, Mo., is home for a holiday visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Hen dricks. Mr. Bussclle was recently called to California by news of the death of his father and expects to be here to spend New Year's on his way home, Mr. and Mr. W. J. Ready gave a dinner at the Grand Wednesday even ing in honor of the office staff nf Mr. Ready, who is local representative of the Metropolitan Life Insurance com pany. Covers were laid for eight, decorations being in Christmas col ors. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Killins nf 275 Morningside avenue entertained Christmajs day at a family dinner, guests being brothers and sisters of Mrs. Killins. with their families. The club will be entertained January lit at the home of Mr-. Tucker in Omaha. One of the ninM delightful affairs of tiie holiday season was the dance given Wednesday evening at the J. F. ileox home on KaM Pierce street, with Glenn Wilcox and Mr. Bernard Beno as ho:t. The entire house was beautifulh adorned w ith Christinas green-, and dancing w as enjoyed in the hall room on the third floor. At H o'clock supper was served, tables being arranged in the dining room and large living room. Fach table had as a centerpiece a loveh basket wo...d and red carnations. At eacli place was a minature Christmas tree bearing the place card, and mak ing a most att'actie favor. About forty guests were present. A most pleasant holiday party for members and their families was given J Wednesday evening at the Fiks' club. Music was furnished for dancing and the club house w as attractively dec orated w ith Christmas greens. The first of the holiday-parties for j the younger set was the annual dance ' of the Tyrolean club Christmas night 1 in the ball room of the Grand. Christ- i mas greens were effectively used in ' decorating the ball room. The oc-1 easion was an en joyable one and danc- j ing continued until a laic hour. The ; programs were in the club colors, i green and gold, and w ere decorated I with the club emblem. The music j was excellent and punch was served throughout the evening. The party! was chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Oil- j Ion Ross, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Benton,' Mr. and Mrs. John I inlcy and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fmpkie. Invitations are out for the annual cadet hop to be given Wednesday night, January 3. and which promises to be a most brilliant affair. The home ,..f Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young. 1125 Seventh avenue, was the scene of a pretty but quiet wedding, when on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock their daughter. Miss Hazel Young, became the bride of Mr. Fd ward Kvans of Red Oak. The cere mony was performed by Rev. Mont gomery of Red Oak. The bride was attended by Miss Kneppher of Omaha and Mr. Maloney of Red Oak was best man. The bride was most charming in a dainty, gown of blue chiffon over white satin and carried a shower bou quet of pink roses. The bridesmaid wore a gown of pearl gray crepe de chine. The house was attractively decorated with Christmas greens and holly. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served. Mr. and Mrs. Kvans left later in the afternoon for a wedding trip, declining to make : known their destination, They will be at home after January 1 at Red j Oak. Out-of-town guests at the wed ding were Mrs. William Kvans and Mr. and Mrs. Maloney of Red Oak. A most pretty wedding took place j Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock at! Salem Kvangclnal church, when ' Rev. H. O. Lorenz united in marrige I his daughter, Caroline, and Dr. C. S. Greenfield of Castana. All the mem-! bers of the congregation were invited to the wedding and the church was tilled. The wedding inarch was played by Miss Alma Winter of Dumfries,! cousin of the bride. The church was most beautifully decorated with a profusion of Christmas greens. Miss Mane l.orenz. sister of the bride, was bridesmaid and Mr. M ilton I.orenz was best man. The bridesmaid wore a daiut gown nf pink and carried pink roses. The bride was charming in a lovely gown of white voile with . trimmings of lace and a long tulle; veil. She carried a shower bouquet j of bride's roses. Following the cere- i mony an informal reception was held ! at the parsonage. Refreshments were served during the reception and later I in the evening a wedding supper was served to the relatives.
