in Canada, in Europe even in Hawaii
and the Philippines alumnae and for
mer students of Brownell Hall on
next Wednesday evening, December
6, at 6 o'clock, Omaha' time, will unite
in prayer for the successful outcome
of the movement to obtain $250,000
for the upbuilding of their alma ma
ter.
To the women who received their
education at the local girls' school a
letter has gone out, asking that they
give to the $250,000 campaign all the
support in their power, moral and
spiritual as well as material. This
letter was signed by Bishop Arthur
L. Williams, as president of the board
of trustees ot the school; Miss Euphe
mia Johnson, principal; Miss Marion
R. Towle, president of the Brownell
Hall Alumnae association and captain
of the junior alumnae team in the
campaign, and Mrs. Philip Potter, cap
tain ot the senior alumnae team.

public places of the City of Omaha, and the Mayor of said city and the City Clerk of said
city are hereby authorised, empowered and directed to sign, execute and deliver a con
tract for and on behalf of the said city.

circuits in said city, plaeed under aaid contract at such point or points as may be se
lected by him, by the use of such standard measuring instruments as he may denirs to
uae; and he may maintain such Instruments In the circuit for so long a time as he may
deem it advisable. And any light not up to the standard as provided herein will be con
sidered as not burning and ball be deducted aa outage, aa herein specified. f

si no indemnify and lave the city barm less against all suits and actions brought against
it for any injuries or damage sustained by any person or persons by reason of the main
tenance of said electric lights, wires or poles, or other structures or parts of ths com
pany's plant which aha. I be due to negligence of the company or-its failure to do or per
form any of the said acts or things, and will, on demand therefor, provide said city with
a bond conditioned for the performance of ths duties aforesaid.
It is further agreed by and between the parties hereto, that for every failure) or neglect
to light any of the aaid lamps or when any such lamp or lamps when-lighted shall fail to
meet the above requirements as herein mentioned, said city shall deduct as "outage"
the proportion of the rates above mentioned for the time such lamp or lampa shall fail to
burn or meet the above requirements, and the amount of such "outage" shall he ascer
tained each month and deducted from the amount payable by the city in the following
month.
It is further mutually agreed by and between the parties hereto, that the said etty
shall, within ninety (f0) days from the execution and delivery of this contract, designate
the location of the lamps to hs maintained snd operated by the company under this
agreement: and the company shall, without unnecessary delay, install such lamps in ac
cordance with such designation.
It in the Intention of the company and the city that the streets of Omaha shall at
all times be properly and adequately lighted, and as a eoniiderable length of time wiD
he required to inn tall the lamps provided for In this contract, the company aarees to keep
the ssid carbon and flaming arc lampa now used In lighting the etty streets in regular
service and use an at prrnent, until surh lime aa they may be replaced by the new lamps
provided for in this contract: and the city agrees to pay for said are lamps, while in use,
at the rate now paid per lamp per year.
H is mutually agreed that all lamps shall be located at the places designated by tt
city council ; but if after location and installation, the city council shall desire to chanm
the location of any lamp or lamps, the company shall make such change or nenurval, the
actual cost of the same to be borne by the city. .
Whenever the city nheU, undsr this contract, direct the contpany to install any lamp
or lamps, the company shall enter upon the work of such installation at once and shall
proceed with the work without any unnecessary delay
It Is further sgreed that the company shall furnish and install enrtahls street signs
all larmnn. sunolied with energy from underground conductors, when and as directed by
the city council. ,
The said city agrees to pay to said company the (rum herein provided for the main
tenance and operation of the said lamps in equal monthly installment, payable on the
26th dsy of each month during the terms of this contract.
It is further agreed that if the city shoo Id, at any time during the Ufa of this ecej
tract, enquire all the property of the company, then future profits. If any, which other
wise may have been realised from the performance of this contract by the company
shall not be considered and allowed as an Item having any value to the company.
It ia further srreed that this contract shall be and remain m full force and effect
for the period of five ( 6 ) years from the date of the execution and delivery thereof.
