For Omaha's Mails
Omaha's mail will travel at the rate
of thirty miles an hour in pneumatic
tubes if the recommendation of the
Commercial club's executive commit
tee to the national congressmen of
the state is realized.
There are live cities in the country
which now have pneumatic mail ser
vice, and Omaha should be added to
the list, the executive committee be
lieves. Secretary Manley explains
that the pneumatic tubes would run
from the Burlington and Union de
pots to the postoflice, thus expediting
the handling of mail and allowing a
later closing hour for collections.
1 he cost ot installation would be
borne by the national government,
but the maintenance cost would have
to be paid locally.
