J. W. Rachman, one of the most
, progressive of Omaha's photoplay
managers, is adding some equipment
that will greatly improve the presen
tation of his picture programs in the
future. This week a new Powers ma
chine has been installed, making the
second and completing the equip
ment in the projection department.
A new Radium sunlight screen has
also been added. .
The shows at the Grand this week
re of very high order. Today Bessie
Barriscale is seen in a Triangle pro
duction, "The Payment." For the
balance of the week such stars as
Billie Burke, 'Crane Wilbur, House
Peters, Mae Marsh, .Robert Harron.
Theda Bara, Jackie Saunders and
Charlie Chaplin, will be presented.
In addition to these stars' best per
formances, Edwin Stevens will give
special organ recitals every evening.
Bluebird Photoplay Is
Today's Hipp Feature
Today and Monday will be Blue
bird days at the Hipp theater, when
the feature offering will be, "Love
Never Die's," inspired by Mendel
ssohn's Spring Song. The story and
scenario are by Harry Gates and the
play was directed by William Worth-

Tuesday and Wednesday, Dustin
Farnum is featured, in "The Parson
of Panamint." The story portrays the
life of a fighting parson of a western
mining town. It is a Paramount film.
Kolb and Dill ar"e seen Thursday in
a Mutual production in five acts, en
titled, "The Three Pals."
Mae Murray will be seen Friday
and Saturday in a drama of New York
life, "The Big Sister." The play is
said to give an insight into how the
other half of the world lives.

"Big Jim Garrity' Today
Manager Lawhead of the Clifton,
which opened a week ago, is assured
that the patrons of Clifton Hill appre
ciate the efforts that have been put
forth in furnishing a suburban show
as good as the best.
. Today "Big Jim Garrity" is shown
as the leading picture. "Big Jim," the
superintendent of a mine in Georgia,
played by Robert Edeson, produces
many thrills. The difficulties are un
raveled in a clever and striking man

Universal Officer Pays
Omaha a Visit Saturday
R. C. Cropper, district manager of
the Universal Film service, spent Fri
day and Saturday in Omaha this week,
visiting with Jake Mitchell, local
manager, Mr. Cropper is one of the
live wires of the film business and has
made quite a record with the Univer
sal. On his visit to Omaha he brought
with him Mr. Ryan, assistant to .Gen
eral Publicity Manager Bowles of the
Universal Film service, who is in
stalling a complete publicity depart
ment for exhibitors doing business
with the Omaha office.

Christie Films Will Be
Distributed by Van Husan
F. A. Van Husan, formerly man
ager of the Laemmle service in
Omaha and now proprietor of the
Western Supply company in this city,
will open an exchange for the distri
bution of the new "Al Christie" com
edy films. "Van" claims these films
are the funniest ever and that he owes
it to the public to see that these films
get wide distribution so that folks
may forget their troubles.

agers of the new Star theater, regret
that they were unable to stage the
formal opening on the date an
nounced last Sunday. However, the
Opening today will be with an excel

Three splendid attractions are pro
grammed for the Muse beginning to
day and Monday with "The Chattel,"
in which E. H. Sothern, the famous
actor, makes his screen debut. Dra
matic only as Sothern can make it,
finished as his Shakespeare, this pho
toplay is charged with compelling in
terest. A news weekly and a comedy
complete the bill. ,

Fannie Ward will be seen in "Witch
craft," the Columbia university prize
photoplay. Friday and Saturday

Lovers of a good, strong, spontane
ous laugh will be pleased to know
that "Al ChrUtie," famous ai a pro
ducer of comedy films for the Nestor
Branch of the Universal Co., has em
barked into the producing game on
his own accord.
Such is the case, and a program
of hilarious Christie Films is quite
ready for booking through a special
local exchange, formed for the pur
nose. In fact, no less a personage
than "Van," or Van Husan, to be
proper, manages the local agency,
which is styled the Christie Comedy
Exchange, with quarters at 301 Na
tional buildinir, corner 12th and
Harney Sts., Omaha.
Al Christie retains most all of the
humor dispensers who have worked
with him so successfully during his
career with the Nestor people, and
Billie Rhodes, The Sunshine Girl of
the Films, takes a liberal share of
stellar honors.
Among the early Christie releases
are "A Seminary Scandal," "His
Baby," "By the Sad Sea Waves" and
"His Wedding Night," all screamers
each one a film that will entice
money into the coffers of a moving
picture show.
