The New Star theater on Sherman
avenue between Binney and Locust,
will have a formal opening Wednes
day night, October 18, under the man
agement of W. H. and J. W. Jackson,
experienced photoplay men.
- The managers announce that they
will present only" the world-famous
productions and . that their opening
photoplay will be a Bluebird-Smalley
production, "Saving the Family
Name." Following this will be other
features of the highest order. -
The New Star is a very fine sub
urban house, equipped with good pro
jection machines, good screen and
other furnishings. Messrs. Jackson
announce that they will inaugurate a
policy new in Omaha.

A bill of considerable merit is
scheduled for this week at the Mon
roe. Beginning today with Edna Wal
lace Hopper and Frank Sheridan in
"The Perils of Divorce," astory that
deals with a social problem, the line

At the Strand Today
Four changes of program hold forth
at the Strand this week, commencing
today, when the attraction! is Lillian
Gish, in a story of stage life called
"Diana of the Follies." Miss Gish is
too well known to Omaha ' picture
patrons to need any introduction and
this picture affords her wonderful op
portunity to display her ability as an
excellent actress. Pathe's weekly con
tains views of President Wilson's visit
to Omaha. Also first world's series
game at Boston, and will be shown
Sunday and Monday.
Tuesday and Wednesday .comes
Frank Keenan in a racing story of
old Kentucky called "The Thorough
bred," while a Keystone comedy and
Pathe weekly wiH help to liven things
up a bit.
Another change of program takes
place for Thursday onlv, while Fri
day and Saturday the offering is Vir
ginia Pearson in "The Bride's Secret,"
a thrilling story of modern times
staged in the usual lavish manner.
Good Programs for Every
Day at the Princess
The offerings today at the Princess
theater includes "The Wrath of the
Cactus," a western drama; Eddy Ly
ons and Lee Moran in "His Own
Nemesis," and an L-Ko comedy,
"Safety First." Monday Carter De
Haven is seen in "Breaking Into So
ciety;" the acompanying picture is a
western drama called "Night ShaiP"
ows." Tuesday the tenth episode of
"Liberty" is shown with "The Elusive
Enemy," featuring Francis Ford and
Grace Cunard, and the animated
weekly. Vednesday the sixth episode
of "The Yellow Menace" is on the
same bill with Dorothy Davenport in
"The Human Gambler." Thursday
Warren Kerrigan is presented in "The
Social Buccaneer." Friday the feat
ure is "The Black Sheep of the Fam
ily " Saturday the program offers an
oriental drama, "A Soul at Stake,"
and two comedies, "Main 4400" and
Beans and Bullets." ,

Grand Theater This Week

tions, he is putting on Triangle,
World and Fox produtions every
night. Starting today, the offering is
William S. Hart in "The Captive
God." This is one of Hart's best per
formances under the Triangle ban
ner. Monday the principal offering
is "Gloria's Romance" and William
Collier in a Keystone, "Never Again."
Tuesday Mollie King is seen in "The
Summer Girl." Wednesday 'The
Half Bred." Thursday June Caprice
in "Little Miss Mischief.
Edwin Stevens, organ soloist at the
Grand, wilt be heard this week in
special concerts. Mr. Stevens is not
only a good performer, but a com
poser as well, and plays many of his '
own compositions.

To Farnam Theater Today
The attraction at the Farnam the
ater today is "Sporting Blood." a
feature starring Dorothy Bernard.
