4,000 6-month-old big-mouth black

bills and perch in Carter lake. These
fish were brought to Omaha directly
from the state fish hatcheries at Val
entine, Neb., and is the largest plant
ever put in Carter lake.
In about three weeks another plant
will be made, including both large and
small-mouth black bass from the
Gretna hatcheries. This will be the
first experiment of planting small
mouth black bass in Carter lake.
Elks Defi Hoodoo
On Day of Clambake
Hoodoos have no terrors for the
Omaha Elks. Persons of superstitious
makeup shy when Friday comes on
the thirteenth of the month, but the
Elks work the jinx the other way.
For Friday, tin thirteenth day of
October, is the date of the Elks' year
ly clambake and members of the
lodge intend to make the double hoo
doo date the biggest day of the year
for them.
The clambake will be the sixth an
nual event and according to I. W.
Miner, the secretary, it will be just
six times bigger and better than the
five orevious ones. Elks from all
over the state are coming to Omaha
for the event and the local commit
tee on arrangements intends to ptil
on such a swell bake that the visitors
will think they are back on Chesa
peake bay instead of in the heart of
the middle weit.
The clambake will be held at Krug
park.
