'LAST LADIES' DAT Of YEAR Harry Knuse and Ray Miller are buddies. They room together and wherever you ee Harry you're ure to find Ray near by, and vice veraa. They're as thick as a couple of Zieg field beauts pursuing the same John. Yesterday afternoon 'Krause got himself mixed uri with a pitcher's bat tle with Kid Hail, the w. k. bean pole. Harry had a one-run lead. In the sev enth inning Ray had a hunch Harry wasn't satisfied with the one-tally ad vantage so he poled the pill over the fence. )' ' As a result Omaha captured the combat t to 1. And, as the lowly Links were resting yesterday Omaha gained half a game and once more are we five games ahead of the pesky Holmes crw. Hooray. Krause and Hall put up as nifty a pitching duel yesterday as one would wan Ia H ...u afallra,t ikraa wnnrm hits and he walked four gents, but he was tight in pinches-and Hall didn't have any buddy to make a home run for him. For four rounds neither side could mark up a tally, in the opening stanza Shag Thompson made a hit, but that r,Ai.itf4 rf the entire Rntirke nfTanae in these rounds. The Topeka made two hits in the first, but a pippin of a throw from deep left to the plate by Ear( Smith killed the Kawa' only chance to count. 1 In the fifth, after Krueger counted out, Cy Forsythe hit a double to cen ter. - In the previous' round Cyrus Startled the lady bugs by a great shoe string catch which developed into a double play, and when he made the double the fair fans promptly gave hi man ovation. Irelan hit a grounder to Halt and Forsythe was nailed be tween second ud third. While the Kaws were running Cyrus down, Har old scooted to second and scored a moment later on Joe Burg'.v.double to right. . The one-run lead lasted through the sixth, but in the seventh Miller made the margin wider by opening the stan za with his circuit clout over the right field wall. ' , . . , , It was welt he did for in the eighth the Kaws put over a counter. With one down Agler singled to left and took second on Defate's single. When Smith failed to field the ball he went to third and scored on Engle's infield hit. Marty Krug made a swell stop of the hit which went over second base and relayed the ball to the plate via Krause in time to nail Delate coming home. If Defate had been safe the score would have been knotted, so Marty descerves some of the credit for the victory. '. Yesterday was the last ladies day of the year as the Rdurkes play no more Monday or Friday games at home ex cept Labor day. Thus the dear things will have to cough up the coin if they want to see our heroes anymore. Fair enough in this advanced age of equal rights. v , ' Today Ducky Holmes leads his gang of Links into Omaha for three games. The Links are said to be a tough crew, but Marty Krug and his men plan- to repulse them with heavy losses. A dounble-header will be played Sunday. The game today will start at 3:15. 'Knights of Columbus to -Attend Ball Tiame Today ' Knights of Columbus of Omaha will turn out in force for the ball ' game between Omaha and Lincoln this afternoon. The Knights' got to gether last week and decided to have a Knights of Columbus day to show their appreciation to Pa. Rourke for his winning dub.
