Sheep Sheep and lamb receipts dropped
to fairly moderate proportions today, aome
forty-live oars, or 12,000 head, being all that
were reported In. Thla la the smallest run
of the week to date. Total for the four
days la 46,916 head, as against 61,981 last
week, 68.014 two weeks ago and 91,934 last
year. With runs of more than 100 car on
each of the first two days of the week a Ave
daya' total of 100,000 head seemed certain.
but receipts fell off so much today that
tha possibility of the week'a receipt reach
ing six figure la remote.
Chicago had another pretty liberal run
and reported proapecta for a continued
break in rat lamo prices. Liooaiiy iambs
made up almoat the entire receipts, but
only a small share of them were In killing
flesh, and wh.Ua packers talked lower values
at the start, they wound up by making
thet first purchases at about steady money.
Thy bought up an tne rat iamb in anort
order, paying 910.40 lor two bands of
Wyoming, which were about an tne rat
Iamb here. A toppy kind Is still quoted at
914.60, which was yesterday's high price.
On best lambs current price are 40060c
lower than lait week's close, but the
strength In feeders has acted a a prop un
der tne rair to gooa xma or amer, and
they are selling no more than 65 0 36c off.
Feeders made up about three-fourths of
the total supply, but demand tor anything
good continued keen, and they were bought
readily at prtcea that were about steady.
Several strings were bought at 410.360
iu.4, ins latter once oemg tne hlanest
paid. Aged breeding ewes made-97.40, and
feeding yearlings brought the high price of
the season to data. 97.86, which figure ta In
fact the highest aver paid here for that
sort of stuff. For the week feeding lambs
are quite a little -higher, advance of a
much aa 26036e4elng noted. Feeder aheep .
are also selling some stronger, though they 1
are not so plentiful, and consequently are
Harder to compare than lambs. But In any I
event all kinds of feeders are now bring
