OUT OF ROURKELETS
Krug's Men Make Errors When
Topeks Make Hits and Con
test Goes to Enemy.
MILLER BATS A THOUSAND
The well known Topeks started on
a winning streak yesterday. They
won their second consecutive game.
The Rourkes were the victims, 10 to
7. And as the pesky Links batted
the Josies into a helpless pulp, the
Holmes aggregation gained back the
game they lost Monday. Curses.
Just how the Topeks licked our
heroes is somewhat uncertain. Fans,
who attended the game, have only a
hazv recollection of what happened.
Ahput the best explanation is that
ey swiped it when the Kourkes
werent looKinsr.
Omaha outhit the enemy, amassing
thirteen blows to . the Kaws twelve,
but the Rourkes also made more er
rors. Cecil Thompson was the first vic
tim. A young man named Tony De
fate, who inhales spaghett and says
Victor Emmanuel is the greatest man
in the world, was the gent who put
a crimp in Cecil. Tony, while Thomp
son was working, made three hits,
sent three runs over with those hits
and scored three runs himself. Tony
didn't have so much luck when Lou
North assumed the hurling burden.
Miller in Form.
Ray Miller was the only Rourke
who did any slugging to speak of.
He made four hits and one sacrifice
fly out of as many trips to the rub
ber. Three of the hits were doubles.
In the ninth inning Ray threw a
scare into Bill Lathrop that so shat
tered Bill's nerves he had to be der
ricked out of the pastime. With two
men on, Ray lifted the pill over the
right field fence, but it went foul a
couple of feet Then Ray hit a
double, but the double only scored
one run and Hall, who relieved Lath
rop here, ended the agony by whiff
ing Krueger with the assistance of
Limp Carney.
The third and fourth innings were
the fatal ones for the Rourkes. In
stanzas the looeks am most
o? their hitting and the Rourkes did
most of their erring. They were
some spasms.
The Rourkes and Topeks will bat
tle again today. The Rourkes prom
ise to do better. The game will start
at 3:15.
