Ten years from today, yea, five years from todny, men will be
saying, "I wish I had bought that property at $20 a foot thnt was
offered me a few years ago; it sold yesterday for Sixty-five Dollars
Foot."
There are people today, those who invest their money for gain,
who are skeptical of real estate values in a growing city like
Omaha, just as some people were ten and five years ago.
Meanwhile others bought and made big profit.

Come to Den Show
By Motor Car Route
Monday night the business men
and farmers up and down the line of
the M. & O. railway will be enter
tained at Ak-Sar-Ben den. They will
not come by rail, however. They are
to come by automobile. They could
not get the special train when they
wanted it last week, so they have de
cided not to take it at all.
John A. Swanson, in his big auto
mobile drove Secretary "Dad"
Weaver and Governor Charles Black
of Ak-Sar-Ben all over that country
Thursday. They talked with the busi
ness men in Blair, Herman, Tekamah,
Craig, Oakland, Lyons and Decatur.
Thus they arranged the program for
next Monday night, and secured the
promise that 100 or more automobiles
will come to Omaha from these places
for the entertainment and initiation.
The autos from the northern towns
are to assemble after a fashion at Te
kamah, and from there they are to
drive in a body to Blair. The autos
from the towns farther down the road
are to assemble at Blair, where they
will wait for the caravan from the
north.
Then there shall be a mighty honk
ing of horns and the great body of
autos will move in a mass upon Oma
ha. At Florence the visitors are to
be met by the Ak-Sar-Ben reception
committee.
Dahlman Asks All
to Become Horse
Race Fans Again
Mayor Dahlman has issued the fol
lowing proclamation, urging all to at
tend the opening of the Great West
ern Circuit races here next Tuesday.
"On Tuesday afternoon, August 22, ,
at 2 o'clock, the Omaha Driving club
opens a five-day session at its
grounds at Carter take, Omaha, be
ing in the Great Western Circuit,
which includes Cleveland, Detroit,
Peoria, Galesburg and Burlington. T
Many out-of-town horsemen will be
present and take part in the races, v
and many horses of note have been
entered. This promises to be one of
the largest meets ever held in the
west and Omaha should show her
appreciation and interest by attending
these races, therefore, '
"I, James C, Dahlman, mayor of
Omaha, do hereby urge and request "
the business men and commercial
interests to close their offices and
places of business on the afternoon of
Tuesday, August 22, that their em
ployes may have an opportunity to
attend these races.
"JAMES C. DAHLMAN, Mayor."

Father Wants Property
to Go to Six Children ,
Charles Erirkson, aged 78, Nebraska
pioneer, appeared before County
Judge Crawford to answer an applica- !
tion of his daughter, Mrs. Nellie Nel- (
son of Fremont, asking that Peter A. 5
Edquist be appointed guardian of his .
estate. The daughter alleges that the
aged father is incompetent to handle
his property, valued at about $5,000.
The pioneer declared that the object !
of the legal action by the daughter is ;
to secure possession of his will which
makes her the sole legatee. He as
serts that he wishes his property
equally divided between the six children.

of a fancy striped material from the
clothes line at the rear of the home
of Mrs. S. F. Woodbridge, 1045 South
Twenty-ninth street.
H. C. Woodward and J. B. 6sten
of the State hotel were easy pickings
for two negro women who met them
at Thirteenth and Capitol avenue and
