Some Misapprehension
Exists
Because many handsome and costly homes have
been built and are planned, that all lots in Dundee's
New Restricted Residence District are high in price.
This is Not the Case
Beautiful, well located lots, with every conven
ience, are offered at
As Low as $800
Building restrictions $2,500 and upward, accord
ing to value of lot. Only $25 cash required, monthly
payments as low as $8.00 per month.
These low priced lots are high, sightly and much
below values on older settled streets nearby.
Admirable for Investment
Not many lots have been offered for resale.
Those sold have brought from 15 r to 20 in less
than a year's time over original price.
WORTH WHILE TO INVESTIGATE.

Military Party Strong.
Yuan Shi-kai's methods were much
the same as those of the old Manchu
emperors, and during his administra
tion North China was kept at peace
by great military forces, which dom
inated the political situation and made
it impossible for independent figures
from the south to come to Peking.
This military strength has been trans
ferred to I uan Un-jui. 1 he methods!
of the military have been so repre-1
hensible that even now southern I
leaders are unwilling to risk their I
lives in Peking, and refuse to come j
here for conference. Shangai is the
center from which most of the nego-1
tiations for a settlement of the pres-1
ent controversies are conducted. I
The military party, of which Tuan
Chi-jui is one ot the chief members,
is quite willing to disband the north
ern armies and replace the troops
now in Peking with southern soldiers.
The revolutionary leaders insist that
this must be done betore harmony
can be re-established between the
warring factions, and Peking rendered
a safe capital for legislatures of all
political faiths.
Broadly speaking, the two great
factions in Chinese politics might
be characterized as the Yuan Shi-kai,
men and the anti-Yuan Shi-kai
men. The former believe a tremend
ous military organization is necssary,
and have little faith in popuar con
trol of the government. The latter
believe a great army has defeated
the development of the Chinese re
public under Yuan Shi-kai, and favor
a decided reduction of the present
military strength as the only possi
ble means of bettering Chinese con
ditions. Maintain Beauty Parlor in
Great London Arsenal
(Correspondence of The Associated Preea.)
London. July 21. Woolwich ar
senal is about the last place one might
look for a beauty specialist, yet it is
right in the center of that hive of
death-dealing machinery manufacture
that one can be found. Right in the
heart of this great arsenal a "Women's
Welfare Deparment" is presided over
tby a woman superintendent who has
ally arm herself while there is yet
time, particularly emphasizing the im
portance of an improved foreign in
telligence service. The result is that
a special commercial envoy has al
ready been charged with investiga
tions in Kussia, and a bill has now
been introduced by Dr. John Loudon,
the minister of foreign affairs, to vote
money for an extension of the Dutch
economic intelligence service abroad.
Dr. Loudon proposes to make the
service more mobile by enabling the
professional consuls to travel far more
extensively in their consular districts
and establish personal relations with
the honorary consuls and vice con
suls with whom they have to co-operate.
Special measures are also to he
taken to enable them to become better
acquainted with the Dutch colonies.
A number of consular officials in gen
eral service are also to be held at the
disposal of the foreign office for spe
cial service missions and charges of 3
temporary nature, with the object ol
keeping Dutch agriculture, industry
and commerce well informed. And
finally, experts will be employed to
report and advise on technical matters
some of them joining the permanent
staff. A sum of $20,000 is asked for k;
cover the estimated expenditure in
the remaining months of the current
year.
Cultivation of Herbs Is
Rjvived in Old Englanc
London. July 21. Among the in
dustries being revived in England i
the cultivation of medicinal herbs.
The old physic garden was part and
parcel of old English country hit.
but herb growing died out in the nine
teenth century, before the impact ni
foreign competition, and today most
medicinal herbs are scarce and some
are unprocurable.
Women who have gardens are be
ing urged to grow badly needed herbs
to help make up for the stortagc ut
drug-producing plants and keep down
the prices.
