Previous to leaving Omaha Mr.
Monroe and his wife were both suffer
ing from ill health. Since going to
Colorado Mrs. Monroe underwent a
difficult operation and at the present
time is very much improved. Mrs.
Monroe and the children will remain
in Colorado, at fine Grove, in Platte
canyon for sometime.

Perry N. Vekroff Has Joined
Staff of Popular Plays
and Players.
DIRECT PETROVA PICTURES
Perry N. Vekroff, a director fa
mous for- his artistic screen produc
tions, has been engaged by the Popu
lar Plays and Players to direct Mme.
Petrova in features for the Metro pro
gram. Mr. Vekroff is the third mem
ber of a trio who will look after
the Petrova productions. Harry Re
vier will continue as supervising di
rector and Aaron Hoffman will attend
to the matter of furnishing scenarios
suitable for Mme. Petrova. Together,
they hope to form a combination rare
ly found in a studio.
Mr. Revier, who was formerly con
nected with the noted Ambrose stu
dios in Italy and assisted in making
"the first Passion play, brings his many
years of experience; Mr. Hoffman,
who has been a successful playwright,
furnishes new blood and ideas, and
Mr. Vekroff's distinctive gifts as
one of the foremost directors in the
country.
Mr. Vekroff has had a career that
reads like fiction. At one time he was
confidential secretary to King Ferdi
nand of Bulgaria and was schooled
by his parents to be a diplomat He
is a graduate of Roberts college in
Constantinople and studied law at a
university in Berlin. Since he has been
in this country he has been engaged
in several occupations and for more
than a year was a reporter on the
Evening Telegraph in Philadelphia.
He speaks and writes six languages
and is the author of 158 photoplays,
all of which have been produced.
Before joining the Metro forces
Mr. Vekroff was a director with the
Kinemacolor company for three and a
half years. Among some of his best
know features he made with that
company are "Should a Baby Die?"
"Three Weeks," ''When It Strikes
Home," "Hearts of Men" and "Her
American Prince." .
"The Crimson Yoke" at
Princess Theater Today
The Princess theater will have two

Madison, the well known emotional
actress, will be presented in "The
Crimson Yoke," a picture of intense
teeiing and emotion. Harry Benham
and Edith Roberts will be shown in
"The Little Grey Mouse," a drama of
intrigue. A comedy, "The Gentle Art
of Burglary " will . also be shown,
Monday, Herbert Rawlinson will be
teafured in They Wouldn't Take
Him Seriously." Tuesday, the twelfth
episode of "Peg o' the Ring," will be
shown. Wednesday, Mary Fuller is
starred in "The Garden of Shadows."
Thursday, a Blue Bird feature "The
Grasp of ' Greed," and Friday.
"Temptation and the Man." Satur
day is Dorothy Davenport in "No. 16
Martjn' Street." Good comedies ac
company all these features.
Theda Bara in "Sin" . '
Farnam Offering Today
"Sin," one of William Fox's great
productions with Theda Bara and
William E. Shay, will be seen at the
Farnam today. If anything Miss
Bara is more vampirish than ever in
this play. One of the most wonder
ful of scenes is the festival or feast
of "Our Lady of Camel," the great
est of all Italian carnivals. The cast
is of more than ordinary strength.
v,"Merely Mary Ann" Plays
Dundee Theater Tomorrow
"Merely Mary Ann" is the feature
production at the Dundee tomorrow
with Vivian Martin in the leading
role. The story has been reviewed
in The Bee and it is a worthy produc
tion. "An All-Round Jake is the
Joker comedy on the same bill.

"King o' Make Believe" Is
Today's Orpheum Offering
The Orpheum, on the South Side,
today offers "The King o' Make Be
live," a Centaur drama, as its feature
photoplay. With this comes "The
Taming of Wild Bill," a Mustang
drama of the west. The usual comedy
film will complete the interesting pro
gram. DeWolf Hopper Is at
Lothrop Theater Today
Many exceptionally good stars and
well known plays are billed at the
Lothrop this week. Today DeWolf
Hopper and Fay Tincher, two cele
brated Triangle stars, will appear in
"Sunshine Dad." In this production,

things in general. Many weeks of
arduous training were required to
make the lion do some of his stunts,
but the success of the picture is due
to the really wonderful success in the
lion's training. A Keystone comedy
called "The Lion and the Girl" are in
cluded in today's program.
Good General Program
At the Besse Today
The Besse today offers a good gen
eral program, consisting of "The Re
turn, ' a Selig drama with Kathlyn
Williams, "The Engineer's Honor,' a
Kalem production, and a Sis Hopkins
comedy entitled "Her Great Inven
tion." The latter is produced by the
Kalem company and is a typical Sis
Hopkins pictunzation.
Mixed Program Will Be
Offered Alamo Patrons
A mixed program has been arranged
for the patrons of the Alamo theater
today. The sixth episode of "Peg o'
the Ring," "The Fall of Deacon Still
Water," "The Rosary" and "The Scar
let Mark" are the offerings. During
the week the programs promise to be
interesting as they combine the best
of the Universal program produc
tions. Monroe Returns to Take
Active Charge of Theater
George O. Monroe, proprietor of
the Monroe theater, who has been
spending some time in Colorado fish
ing and recuperating generally, will
return to Omaha Monday and assume
"The Social Highwayman"
Today on Grand Screen

will be shown at the Grand

most substantial successes. As a
photoplay it is equally noteworthy,
being enhanced by the genius of Ed
win August and Ormi Hawley and the
atmosphere of a painstaking produd
tion. The1 story is one of human in
terest and deals with a subject all can
understand. The' . accompanying
comedy is a Cub film entitled ;"The

May Establish Movie '
Studio in Omaha Soon
The W. T. Warren Film company
of Chicago may locate. a photoplay
studio in Omaha, according to. A. A.
Myers,-representative of the com

H. Cunningham,' the general man
ager, is investigating the situation
here and several locations are- being
considered. The company took the
speedway pictures yesterday. If pres
ent plans mature a finishing plant
will also be located here.
