Browne II hall wan founded In 163. Its
founder, Btwhop Talbot, dettifrned it as a
church school for gtrls. Much of the
original monpy was ratsetl in th dloccwe
of Connecticut, and It toolt Its name from
Thomas Browne!., third bishop of Con
necticut. The first building was north of the city
of Omaha, at Saratoga. In 1868 the school
was moved to the corner of Six torn th and
Jones streets. The present building was
begun on the nite given by Herman Kountse
in 1886. The building w or atone, dhck
and iron. It has three great stairways
and several Independent exits from the
buildnig, and there la a flro escape extend
ing from the top floor down the outside
of the east end of each wing.
It hRs a gymnasium sixty-five feet long,
forty feet wide and twenty feet high, glv.

equipped with Hwerilih apparatus.
The Infirmary con tuts of a suite of
rooms and private bath. A trained nurse
is in charge.
It has an elementary department, also.
for little boys and girls. It gives prepara
tion for all the collegei of the North Cen
tral association, as well as for Bryn Mawr,
Mount Holyoke, Radcllffe, Wollesley. Vassar
and Smith colleges.
It offers exceptional advantages In house
hold arts, piano, violin and voice.
