KEBZ IS HERO OF THE DAT
rTopetea, Kan. June 12. (SpeS!
Telegram.) Omaha and ''Topeka
taged their second extra inning game
in two days, the Rourkes winning in
the tenth, 2 to 1, after coming from
behind and-tying the score in the
eighth. .- , '
: Big Otto Men was the hero of the
combat. He won the game for Oma
ha with a mighty vthree-baie crash
in the first of the tenth, and then
aved the victory in the last half by
retiring Topeka runleas after the lo
cals had filled the bases with non
out - !
Men weakened after circling thr
.bases, and a single, a double and a
scratch single filled the bases before
a Savage had been retired.' Then
the veteran srot hts hook to workintr.
Chicago. -Tune 12. Otto Knabe at
last seems, fixed for the summer: He
has been signed by Joe Tinker to olay
fanning Snow and Cochran and forc-J second base ior the Cubs. Knabe
ing Angler to ground to Krug for an
easy tnira out. r
Today's game was a great pitching
exhibition between Hall and Bruc
Neither club threatened seriously un
til theX sixth, when Topeka scored
a run on singles by Agler -and
Schweitzer, with a stolen base. "r
With Hall pitching grand ball, this
looked like enough to win, but Man
ager Krug started things with a crash
ing single in the eighth. Smith
scored him with a two-base blow. In
this inning Marshall batted for Brack
and Men went into the box for
Omaha.
Men was the first batter to face
nan in tne tenin. wiin ine count
three and two, Hall tried to put over
the third strike. Men met the ball
squarely and drove it t i deep left cen
ter, reaching third with ease. He
scored on Smith's long fly.
When Topeka came to bat Men
appeared to be winded from his three
base run. Lattimore singled and
Trainer doubled. Monroe beat out
an infield hit, filling the bases. Then
Men fanned Snow and Cochran and
Agler grounded to Krug.
