IRON MOULDERS GO.
OUT ONA STRIKE

Following the failure of the Omaha
Iron Moulders' union No. 190 and the
State Association of Foundry, Owners
to come to an agreement, approxi
mately 100 membera of the trade in
this city and the eastern part of Ne
braska walked out yesterday morning.
, The iron moulders had asked for a
reduction of from nine hours to eight
hours for a working day and a raise
form $3.50 to $4.50 a day.
The foundry owners met in Omaha
the first of the week, during, which
session conferences were held be
tween them and representatives of the
iron moulders. Charles Wilkenson.

Omaha representing the local body at
the conferences.
Waive One Clause.-'
The iron workers averred that they
agreed to waive the clause asking for
a reduction in working hours and ac
cept the Kansas City scale. The foun
dryraen agreed to 44 tents an hour
The - iron moulera met again
Wednesday evening and endorsed
their committee holding out for 45
cents per hour.
There are, according to reports,
about forty-five iron moulders af
fected by the strike in Omaha.
. In several shops the scale was
agreed upon and the men did not
walk ouf. '
' Work at Hospital.
V. Ray Gould, contractor and pres
ident of the Omaha Builders' ex
change, has put his force of laborers
to work resuming .the construction of
the state hospital at the University
of Nebraska College of Medicine
campus, for the first lime since the
strike commenced.
This job lay idle longer than any
other in the city since the strike has
been abandoned. Monday morning
work commenced on a lot of the jobs
in the city, and since that time work
has been resumed on other jobs every
, day, Mr. Gould's job was about the
last to be taken -..p.

ago, his occupation as a railroad man
there having been rendered useless,
owing to the chaotic condition of

Florence. to Vote:,
On Sewer Bonds
The city council of Florence has
passed ordinances calling for a special
election to vote bonds for the building
of a sewer system in Florence. The
plans propose a system that will take
care of the entire city, but only the
main sewer, to run from Briggs to
Davenport streets, with a connection
to the river on Madison street is con
templated at this time. The cost will
be approximately $20,000, all the
money that can, be voted at this time
