Will Not Be Confirmed by
Senate.

That Thomas S. Allen, United
States sttorney, and George L.
Loomis, collector of internal revenue
at Omaha, will lose out on their ap
pointments is the latest development
in federal official circles. In other
words, it is now practically certain
they will fail to be confirmed because
of the political rupture between Sen
ator Hitchcock and William Jennings
Rryan since the two men were
named.
Allen and Loomis received the two
political plums in the Nebraska tree
plucked by Mr. Bryan for his friends.
Senator Hitchcock bestowed the mar
shalship on Thomas J, Flynn and the
place of collector of -customs on
Charles VV, MrCune.
Hitchcock's friends, Flynn and Mc
Cune, were confirmed by the senate
last January and are secure in their
positions.
Bryan's friends, Allen and Loomis,
have not yet been confirmed, and it
it said Senator Hitchcock declares
Allen never will be confirmed. As for
Loomis, it is believed by many that
the senslor will let his confirmation
go through if "a certain deputy in the
office" la first removed. This deputy
is said to have been active politically
in opposition to the srnstor.
Brother Hitchcock has done every
thinfcj to Rain the Bryan endorsement
of his own candidacy. All, slas, In
vain. And ss Allen is Bryan's brother-in-law
he is bound to suffer the
r.onseque-nc es.
