S fRIPED PARASOL TO HELP DAN CUPID Lawn at the Country Club to Be Adorned With These Love Traps. ,' IS TO HAVE WELL-BENT EIBS Timely Fashion Hint 9j la sxcoirrxvia. By MELLIFICIA -May 23. No wise mother with a goodly sized family of (laushtrrs would think of such a thing as her home in the plan of one big, stately drawing-room. Instead she would fill the house with as many little nooks and recesses as a gulf coast bay has bayous and la goons. There was another trap, quite passed now; but it did its work in its day, and many a grandmother will testify she gets romantically reml TRcent and tells you how your grand father proposed to her in the sum mer house." Read any old novel and you'll learn that the little latticed kiosk in the side yard was where Lord Roland asked Angelica, the gov erness, to marry him and become a marchioness at the very least. Of late years the iron tahle on the lawn with a big gaily striped para sol over it, a dipping tided parasol with well-bent ribs, has proved a love-trap with possibilities never even dreamed of the little latticed arbor. Every country club putting them up begins each season with an entirely new list of young married members. When the question of garden equip ment came up this year at the Coun try club, the committee on furnish ings, Mrs. George Bernhard Prinz, Mrs. Robert Howe nd Mrs. W, J. Foye, decided upon the parasols.-"Put them in," said one of the matrons, "and I'll promise you a new engage ment every week.' , Marquees are all. very comfortable, but they are like the drawing-room filled with a stately company of spin sters and bachelors discussing topics of general and current interest, with interludes of small talk. "Hut two by two, under the striped parasols if the engagements are not announced all summer long at the Country flub this season, there will be something remiss with the men," declare one of the committee. fx ' m 1 . r 4.
