GRANT CONFERENCE
. T Ti . T J. -
I IIHIllH a 11 I II 1J11W11 lit: II llrnL 111
Common Laborers to Meet
with Leaders.
TLASTIRERS HAVE NO DEMANDS
The Omaha Rudders' exchange
has refused to grant the conference
the leaders of the strike of common
laborers have asked. This' request
for a conference was made a few
day ago, hut the builder flatly re
fused to appoint and instruct a com
mittee to meet the labor delegates.
"We have no grievance," said one
of the contractors. "Why should we
appoint a committee for a confer
ence?" The employes of the Electric Light
and Power company, working at the
iob of putting in the big conduit on
eavenworth street, though they
were off the job for nearly a half
day several days ago, when the
strikers asked them to come out wifh
them, are again at work, so that the
strike thus far continues to be rem
aned largely to the labor on build
ing operations.
O. C. Hardy, heading a committee
of the plasterers' union, says there
is no truth in the. report that the
plasterers are uneasy and that they
contemplate making some demands
at this time.
The teamsters have denied that
they intend to go out with the labor
ers or press any of their demands at
this time.
The carpenters have just made a
three years' contract with the build
ers and thus have their grievances
settled for a period of at least three
years.

George Washington and Ben Franklin
1 vera! thousand beautiful new
pictures of deorge Washington and
Renjamin Franklin have been re-
ceived at the local postoffice for dis
tribution to the people of Omaha

the United Jtates government and
are said to be splendid likenesses of
the two great patriots. They were
made by the government engraven.
A whole carload of the engravings
was received. They may be secured
by calling at the postoffice,
A nominal price of a . few cents
each has been placed upon the pic
tures so that they shall come into
the hands of people who will appre
ciate them and will not waste them.
Engravings of George Washington
can be secured at 1 cent, 2 cents, 3
cents, 4 cents, 5 cents and 6 cents.
Engravings of Benamtn Franklin
jean be purchased fen- 8 cents, 10
cents and 15 cents each, according
