Crowe, a former Omaha policeman, and
Joseph Landers, a wrestler, held by the
police as suspects In connection with an
attempt to burn the store of Hartman
early today. A fourth suspect was being
sought.
Crowe was closely questioned for sev
eral hours after the arrest of the trio fol
lowing the discoverey of approximately
seventy-five gallons of gasoline and other
inflammable material In the store shortly
before daylight. Crowe's statement,
which was said to Implicate four men In
the attempt to burn the store, was at

connected with a manufacturing firm at
St Joseph, Mo., whose plant was dam
aged by fire In December, 1911, was given
to the police. The St. Joseph polios were
asked for details concerning the circum
stances of this fire.

Wednesday's, estimated recelpta of 269
cars, or 18.000 head, being the largest
for any one day since June !. So far this
week 55,746 head have been received. Thla
Is larger than a week ago and a gain of
the correspondir.g days of last year of

Hog trade was slow In getting started
again this morning. Big receipts were re
ported at all points snd most other
markets expected a weakness in values.
As was the case yesterday, shippers took
their Cine about starting out. but finally
they, along with ons or two of the pack
ers, began picking up the good heavy
hogs, as well as soms of the best lights,
at prices that were not over 6c lower
and In many cases were nearly steady.
About mldforenoon tbe trade suddenly
took on new life. Bids Jumped to a fully
steady basis and many sales were made
this way, while before the close prloes
paid looked ss much as 6c higher than
yesterday's early market, and were so
different from yesterday's close as to be
clear out of range of comparison. The

Destroyed by Blast
Of One of Its Bombs

ion.) A report of the destruction of the
tuper-Zeppelln L-2J waa received from
flchlaswls; today by a Copenhagen news
paper. It Is said nearly all the forty
members of the crew wers killed or
wounded.
The loss of the Zeppelin Is said to have
been due to the accidental explosion ot
a bomb SS the alrshln waa leavlmr n
shed. Tha explosion demolished the
shed.
According to this account the accident
occurred a fortnurht ago. The Zeppelin
had been In service only a few weeks.
It Is described as a sister ship of tha
L-13, recently reported to have been de
stroyed by an explosion at Tondern. It
waa of the latest type with Invisible gon
dolas, platforms at the top of the enve
lope and detachable rafts tor use In case
of accident while crossing the tea.

Off icers of Clerks
For tha eleventh time since tha organ
isation of ths Nebrsska and Iowa Hotel
Clerks' association. Colonel William An
derson installed the newly elected offi
cers. The ceremony took place last even
ing at Hotel Fontenelle during a busi
ness meeting of the organisation.
"Fop" Anderson, as he Is familiarly
known to many hotel patrons, was ths
founder of ths Oroeters' association, and
each year ho Is called upon to install
the officers. Hs has dons so each
year since the beginning, excepting; ths
times he himself was elected president.
He Is Hotel Rome's chief clerk.
The new offioers are as follows: John

Serenade Mayor
In honor of Mayor Dahlman's birthday,
twenty-five members of tbe Concordia
Ladles' Singing society serenaded him
and Mrs. Dahlman last evening at tbe
mayor's home. Twenty-ninth and Hickory
streets.
With choruses, solos and recitations,
ths society made such a hit with the
Dahlroana that ths singers were forced
to remain and accept the hospitality of
the mayor's horns for almost three hours.
The executive Is an honorary member
of the society. Mrs. Max Flothow was
ons of the leaders tn ths serenade.
