The week's total Is only 8,631 head, being-
less than half as large as last weeg, anu
more than S.OCO smaller than the corre
sponding days both two weeks ago and
last year. The run for the first half
of this week Is smaller than for any
similar period for several years.
The lightness of local receipts failed
to check the break that fell at all
points this morning. A heavy run at
Chicago and sharp breaks at all out
side points gave packers the club they
have been wanting for a fresh attack on
values, and the trade went back to the
price slashing basis of lust week. One
or two loads sold to shippers at prices
almost as good as yesterday's, a top of
$7.40 being paid, but shipper buyers wers
almost entirely out of the market.
First sales to packers were around
IfcbOOo lower, but only two buyers were
willing to du that well. The result was
that after about half the supply had
been cashed, prices dropied to a Sue
lower level, and last sales mads were
quotably sa much as 40c lower. One
buyer failed to get in at all, and when
the last of the packers left the yards
there were still seven or eight carloads
In first hands, most of which had never
even attracted a bid. A four-load con
signment of light Idaho hogs failed to
find favor with any of the buyers, and
no one had tried to buy them up to a
late hour.
Bulk of the sales made landed at $7.00
(61.16, the former figure buying the long
string. Weighty sows sold as low as
$41.86 on the close, and, as noted above,
there were several loads of all descrip
tions which no one would even bid on
SHEEP Supplies were about the same
as on the mid-week trade a week ago
but were lighter than for most recent
Wednesdays. About eighty Insds. or 20 .
800 head, were received, bringing the total
for the three days up to 71,40." heed. This
Is a shortage of 18,000 as compared with
last week's moderate run and 30.000 smaller
than two weeks ago, but Is 7.00 larger
than for the same days a year ago.

somewhat uneven the general market
