J. N. H, Patrick
The attendance at the funeral of Mi 1.
J. N. H. Patrick, he!d at All Saints
Episcopal church "undsy, was very
large and among those who were pres
ent to pay the last rsspects to the pion
eer woman were many of the Nebras-
kans who came to Omaha and Douglas
county In ths 80s and 90s. There were
a number of members of the Nebraska
Association of Douglas County Pioneers,
though she was not a member of that
organisation.
The funeral services were conducted
by Rev. T. J. Mackay, rector of All
Saints, assisted by Rev. Edwin Hart
Jenks, pastor of the First Presbyterian
cnurcn. Bunal was In ths family lot In
Prospect II 111 cemetery, beside her hus
band. J. N. If. Patrick. An Immense
quantity of flowers were sent to the
church by friends. These later were sent
to the Clarkson Memorial hospital The

The rally of eight Sunday schools at
Westminster Preebyterlan church yes
terday morning was a big sucress. Miss
Onmlln of the Sunday parly led and Ihe
church was crowded, some being there
aa early ss 8:30 a. m. Forty-five young
folks hit the trail snd more than fifty
others made promises to Join the church
as soon as possible and try to lead bet
ter Christian lives.
Miss Uamlln went to Council Bluffs,
where at 11:40 shs conducted a rally of
the Broadway Methodist Episcopal Sun
day school.
SPRINKLER QUENCHES FIRE
IN UNCLE SAM PLANT
Flro which started In tha wheat bin
of the t'nele Sam Breakfast food plant
at Twenty-lghth and Sshler streets early
Sunday morning would have destroyed
the place had It not been for the ef
ficiency of the automatic sprinkler with
which the place Is equipped.
When the heat melted tha plug which
starts the sprinkler It turned In an alarm
of fire. By the time the department
errlved the entire fire area was flooded,
but ths firs had been extinguished.
GLIB STRANGER BORROWS
FROM MEN SEEKING WORK
So eager for work were John Huntla,
Clio, Ark., and William Marrow, Patter
son, Ark., that they followed a glib
stranger all day, listening to his promises.
He had them at the stock yards on Jhe
South Side yestordsy afternoon, when he
granuiy announced inai ne ownea a nan
Jnterest In ths big place.
A few minutes later he borrowed 110
from Morrow and t3S from Huntla "to
buy cigarettes with," and he has not
been seen sines.
