Agreeably surprised were the membera
of Nebranka lodge No. 1, twice In one
evening last Monday. First, by a. visit
from Orand Chancellor Dr. Oeorge W.
Meredith of Aahland, who made a brief
epeech on the Pythian field of Nebraska,

Kluffa and were royally entertained by

F. Heler, a few 'three-minute whistle
specchea, caxda. eata and drinks. All
membera are requested to bring In on
Monday evening applications for rank
work In October.

Mns. Emma B. Manchester, aupreme
guardian of the Woodmen Circle, haa
returned from Pee Moines, where ahe
had been attending the Iowa Fraternal
congress. The Woodmen Circle considers
a high honor haa been paid the order In
the re-election of Mr. Manchester as first
vice president of the Iowa Fraternal con
gress. Mrs. Manchester reports a splen
did meeting.
Independent Order f Odd Fellows.
Omaha lodge No. I will have work In
the Initiatory degree next Friday eve
ning. Urand Chaplain Mead of Silver Creek
visited the Omaha lodges laat week.
X V. Crura waa presented with a forty
year Odd Fellows veteran pin laat Mon
day evening by State lodge No. 10. Mr.
Crum became a member of Lewis lodge
No. 140, jurisdiction of Iowa, on October

The arand lodge programs hare been
ptiMlshed and show that visiting Odd
Fellow, as well aa representatives of
the grand lodge, will be well entertained
during their stay In Omaha.
Iannebrog lodge No. 216 will have work
In the Initiatory dogree next Friday eve
ning. W. It. lAi-kln of the Odd Fellows home
at Tork rame to Omaha last week for a
four weeks' visit.
Order of Wrottlsh Una.
Clan Oordon, No. 6.1, Ordcw of Scottish
Clana, held a regular meeting Tuesday.

ant hour was spent with carpet bowls.
Modern Wood men of America.
October 11 haa been eet aa the date for
the entertainment to be given by B. A
M. camp No. S45, Modern Woodmen of
America. The affair will be held at the
Douglas auditorium and will be for the
famlllea of the membera and their friends.
Elaborate preparations are being mado
and the camp la preparing for a large
number of people. The meeting In the
camp's club rooms In The Bee building
last Tuesday evening was largely at
tended and much business waa trans
acted. Several out-of-the-ordlnary fea
tures are promised for the meeting next
Tuesday evening.
Woodmen of the World.
Lithuanian camp No. 444 will meet to
day at Ita ball. Thirty-fourth and U
streets, Pouth Hide. Special Initiation.
South Omaha camp No. til will meet
Wednesday evening, Bejptember 29, at 8
o'clock at MoOann'e hall. Twenty-fourth
and P streets. A large class will te
Initiated. A. H. Randolph haa ben ap
pointed deputy for thle camp, which as
sures an Increase In membership.
Kosctuazko camp No. 3ii3 mad the
largest increase In membership of any
camp In South Omaha, It was due to the
efforts of Leo Itacrsk. clerk of the camp
8-hlller camp No. 4 will meet Thurs
day evening, September SO. at its' Indue
room In Ocrman home, 4VW South Thir
teenth street. A large class will be Ini
tiated after which refreshment will be
served.
Benson camp No. 2 promises aime
active work for woodcraft during fie
month of October. Colonel Mather, clerk 1
of the camp, has returned home after a
long absence Inspecting the larlou en
campments under hla Jurisdiction.
Nebraska line. No. 13 will meet Thurs
day evening. September 11, at 8 o'clock,
at Thirteenth and Martha streets. This
Is the regular evening for Initiation an)
a good attendance la desired.
Comenlus camp No. 7 held an Interest
ing meeting on Saturday evening la it at
Bohemian hall. South Thirteenth street.
It was attended by membera arvl their
famlllea.
Former Omaha Womna Dies.
Members of the Maccabee lodges of
Omaha were grieved last week to learn
of the death of Mrs. Orpha U Eichel
berger, wife of Frank Klchelberger, who
formerly resided In Omaha, She died at
her recent home at Monument, Kan., on
September 17 and the body waa taken to
Muscatine, la., for Interment.

Omaha tent No. 75 will haive a surprise
for the boys Monday evening. The record
keeper haa Juet received several rases of
fine Rocky Ford melons from the ranch
of Sir Knight Codding aa a treat for the
Maccabees, so come out and help dis
pose of them. New plans for field work
will be discussed. '
American Yeomen.
Omaha homestead No. 1404 met last
Wednesday evening. District Manager
Postlck waa present and gave encourage
ment to the membera, aa well aa outlin
ing the campaign for the fall and winter.
Membera Interested In dancea are Joyful
aa about one-half of the new floor In the
hall is laid. The floor will be finished by
about October 1, and the next dance win
be In the Yeoman hall at Nineteenth and
Famam streets.. September 2 haa been
reserved for the drill team.
The commlttn on entertainment for the
children's festival, which haa become
an annual festival In Teomenry, have ar
ranged with the Hall association to have
the festival October 22. The children
under 14 years of age whether their par
ents are Yeomen or not, are invited to
compet for the prizes In vocal, musical
and speaking contests.

Mecca court No. 13 Tribe of Ben Hur
will hold a short session next Thursday
evening after which refreshments will be
served. Surprise for membera only.
Fraternal I'nlon.
Mondamtn lodge No. 111. fraternal Aid
union, met last Tuesday evening at Ba
rlght hall. Frank Cooster won the atten
dance prize. The next meeting will be
held next Tuesday evening.

Isaac Oordln of Omaha will apeak on
"The War and Our Problem," Monday
evening at 8 o'clock at the Labor temple,
Nineteenth and Farnam street. The lec
ture is being arranged by the territorial
labor party of Omaha.
Ivy camp No. Z, Royal Neighbors of
America, will meet at their hall at Fif
teenth and Douglas streeta, at S o'clock
Wednesday evening September 29. ,
A prise card party and dance will be
given under the ausplcea of Red Wing
council No. 1, Degree of Pocahontas,
Monday evening In the Continental build
ing at 8 o'clock.

Supreme Officers of the Danish
Brotherhood Are to Stop
Off Here.
SOME TO BRING THEIR FAMILIES
Commencing the week of October 4. the
aupreme officera of the Danish Brother
hood of America will be In annual aea
slon at Omaha and Immediately after
ward will leave for St. Paul, Minn., where
the national convention is to be held
during the following week. The Daniah
Brotherhood Is the greatest association
of Danes outside of Denmark and haa
lodges in nearly every state In the union
and waa organized in 1S82 In this city.
There are now over 300 lodges In the
United States. The Danish Brotherhood
is a fraternal organisation to which any
Dane, either born in Denmark or of Dan
ish parents, is elligible to become a mem
ber. There are now over 21,000 members
and the association has a surplus of
8300.000 and since Ita organization haa
paid out for Insurance over 81,6o0,O(XX
and during lta organization has paid out
over 11,000.000 to ita membera for alck
benefit.
The local Danish associations and lodges
are making plans to entertain the dele
gates for the national convention who
will make a stop over at Omaha on
Sunday, October 10. They are expect
ing about '300 delegates, with families
and friends, to be In Omaha for at least
two days. A eight-seeing trip by auto
mobile Is arranged for Sunday morning,
making a visit to Council Bluffs about
2 p. m.
The local lodge there has made ar
rangements for a reception In the Dan
ish hall and after having been enter
tained will come bark to Omaha, where
a banquet w ill be tendered to all visiting
membera. Following the anjuet will be
a dance until midnight. The delegatea
are leaving by special train to SU Paul
on Sunday night.
Commerce Alumni
Hold Their Reunion
About 17 graduatea of the High School
of Commerce were present at the Alumni
association meeting held Friday night at
the High Schonl of Commerce assembly
hall with the June, l&ltf, graduating class,
which will be the first four year class to
graduate from this school, aa guests of
honor. The meeting was presided over
by Kfcrl Adams principal of the high
school; Leonard McGrath, president of
the alumni, and Leslie Noel, secretary.
Short talks were made by Miss Alice
Ryan. Leonard M-Qrath, Dr. Holovt
chlner, Leslie llagllpd, president of the
June '13; Helen Horton. vice president of
February '14; Marlon Rod sen, president
of June '14, William Turner, president
of February '15; Harry Wilson, Commerce
editor; Alva Lloyd, June '15, and George
Traber, June '16. A piano duet was given
by Miss Weeks and Mlsa Sadie Wless.
Mr. Adams also spoke on the several
chnngea that were being made at the
school. He atated that a new f I resell
had been Inaugurated In the routine
the echool whereby they could clear the
building In the period of one minute. He
also said that lunch was being aerved
cheaper.
Reportera from each senior claas were
elected to represent the different classes
on the Commerce, the school paper. The
