WANT JEFFERSON HIGHWAY
TO RUN THROUGH OMAHA
Efforts to hav the proposed new Jef
ferson Hlrhway ps through Omaha will
be made by five local good roads enthusi
asts, who hava been Invited to attend the
organisation of the association at New
Orleana, November IB and 11 The Invita
tion to help create tha new highway waa
extended to tha Omaha Commercial club.
The Jefferson Highway will connect
Winnipeg, Canada, with New Orleana,
and will serve as a main auto road north
and south, through tha territory wast of
th Mississippi rlvar and half way to tha
Ttocky mountain.
LONG NON-STOP RUN MADE

tells of a remarkable non-stop run by a
Haxon roadster over Colorado reads,
setting out with Will Martin ef Diaver
as driver and A. C. Newton, a newspaper
man, as observer, this car averaged more
than twenty miles per hour In 100 miles

Lady Gergory of
Irish Players to
Lecture in Omaha
A meeting of the Irama league cf
Omaha was held Saturday morning at
the home of Miss Kate Mcllugh, and
plana for the year's work were discussed.
It was announced that the first lecture
to be given under the auspices of the
rew league will be on October 2S, when
Lady Gregory of the Irish players will
lecture on the Irish theater. The place
of the lecture will be announced later.
Mlea Janet McDonald, chairman of the
educational committee, submitted tenta
tive plana for work among study clubs.
A rally of all members will be held In
about two weeka. at which time these
plans will be further developed.

A few weeke ago when Passenger Traf
flo Manager Moody of Pennsylvania lines
was here, he waa ahown about the city by
Traveling Passenger Agent Roland, the
company's representative hera. At the
time he commented upon the activity In
building operations and before leaving
asked Mr. Roland to compile and send to
him a list of the many large buildings
In eourae of construction.
Mr. Roland complied with the request
of Mr. Moody and now he has reserved a
reply. In his letter Mr. Moody asserts
that he has traveled about the country
a great deal during tha last rummer and
that In no place visited has he found a
city apparently so active and Prosperous
aa Omaha. Ha adds that Omaha is out
stripping practically all the cltlea In the
number of buildings being erected.

The restaurant, they announce, will be
one of the most modern and up-to-date

will be new. The Anthonys have had
wide experience In the restaurant busi
ness In the east and declare that the

the switch turned off or without gasoline
In the tank.

and neglect to lubracate all other parts

Don't turn corners at high speed.
Don't neglect to keep the radiator filled
with water, or with a good antl-freeslng
solution In cold weather.
Don't attempt to ahlft gear Into reverse
when car Is moving ahead.
Don't ahlft from high gear to lowwr
speeds when going at high rate of speed.
Don't fair to Investigate any unusual
aound which may develop In the ear.
Don't drive fast or attempt to stop
suddenly on a wet pavement.

Don't let every Tom, Dick and Harry
drive your car.

repair man, make you believe that he
knows more about the way a car should
be built than the manufacturer.
Don't forget to put water In the battery.
Don't use the starter to run the car.
Don't blame the atarter when the en
gine doesn't start look In the gasoline
tank.
Don't put In starting button when the
motor Is running.
Don't push In starting button when the
shifting lever Is In gear.

the battery, unless the motor Is run suf
ficiently to recharge It.

Motoring in Winter
Almost as Pleasant
as in the Summer
No longer will the cold winter months
hold terror for the automobile dealer be
cause the late models are so designed
that motoring In winter Is nearly as much
of a pleasure as In summer.
The motor car haa grown to be a social
necessity as well as a business necessity.
The busy business man cannot be con
fronted with the necessity of bundling
up, putting on oven-hoes and doing nu
merous other things to combat the ele
ments. Momenta are too precious. Too
much time la wasted. Quick action Is too
necessary.
The women, too, must save precious
moments, and their comfort must be con
sidered. Social calls and shopping can
be made much more of a pleasure. In
stead of appearing with mud-bespattered
shoes and skirts fringed with mud or
dampened with snow or rain, the motor
car woman can enjoy the comforts of
good weather all the year.
The automobile men of Omaha are,
like the manufacturer, conversant with
the new demand to be met with. Models
of the all-year cars are now being dis
played by numerous dealers, and an ef
fort Is being made to make motoring an
all-year pleasure and convenience.
Among the new cars of the all-year
type on display are the Cadillac, Klssell,
Hudson, Hdpmoblle and Chandler. Other
cars will make announcements, too, re
garding U winter cars.

MOTORCYCLE EXPOSITION
Victor H. Roos, the local Harley-Davld-son
distributer, leaves thla evening to
attend the annual National Motorcycle
show, which la to be held at Chicago this
week. He will also visit the Harley
Davidson factbry at Milwaukee and make
arrangements for hla 1916 machines, for
which he haa already booked quite a
number of orders and which will be
ready for delivery In a few we'ks.
All the prominent motorcycle manufac
turers will display their 1916 models for
the first time, and dealers from all parts
of the United Rates and Canada will
flock to the Chlcasro Coliseum t' behold
what their respective factories have
created for them to sell for the coming
season.

U. S. COURT IN SESSION
AT NORFOLK ON MONDAY
The United States district court, which
was In session at Chadron the first part
of this week, will open court in Norfolk
Monday. Judge T. C. Munger will be on
the bench, and nearly two weeks' work Is
expected at Norfolk. Inasmuch as Court
opens In Omaha on September IT It will
bo necessary to open court In Norfolk;
for a week, then come to Omaha, after
which a recess will be declared In the
Omaha court, and the work will be fin
ished In Norfolk before It Is resumed In
Omaha.

The two auxiliary seats used m the seven
pastenfier model disappear entirely into the floor
when not in uie.
The three passenger roadster is of the
clover leaf design, containing three individual teati
with form fitting upholitery. The center teat it
dropped hack and an aitleway is left between the
