Miller Looks for
Big Railroad Year
Enroute home to Chicago, after a trip
over practically all the western and north
ern lines of the system, Sam F. Miller,
general freight agent of the Northwest
ern, is in Omaha. He is optimistic, and
discussing the outlook for the future,
said:
"It looks to me as If the western rail
roads have a good year In sight. After
traveling over a greater portion of our
system, I am delighted with the pros-"
peots. The year has been a good on with
the farmers generally, and this means
that there Is to be good business for the
railroads.
"After going pver Wisconsin, Minnesota,
ths Dakotas, down Into Iowa and then
out through Nebraska! there Is hardly
a locality where a bumper crop of small
grain has not been raised. The heavy
rains in soma localities has reduced the
quullty of the grain, but the unusually
large yield Is going to bring more money
to the farmers, even If prices are a
little lower than last year. '
