B7 LLELLIFICIA.
TALKING of a certain well known natron brings to mind the Inter
cstlug story, as lt was told to me, of her palmy days amongst us.
This matron's tarorlt form of entertainment was dinner
giving and her dinners were always Just a little more tempting
than others, her menus most unusual and attractively different from most,
a lure that really lured, for her devotees were legion.
At on of her fuuctlons the guests were chatting gayly around her
table and as course after course appeared, knowing glances began to pass
from one to the other glances of complete surprise. The menu was dif
ferent, not hers at all. The viands were not of the particularly enticing
variety, but dishes that tempted the lover of simple home-like foods. The
rsstsou was sot apparent to all, but one charming madame "smelt the
lcouse," and went blithely on her way through course after course of her
nesband's favorite dishes. Just as all were leaving the dining room "wise"
madam aalvely remarked to Madame Hostess: H
"Your menu held all of my husband's favorite dishes! Please keep
fingers off."
