center and Whitted ran in too cloae. He

while Zimmerman circled the baees with
the winning run. The game was a great
pitchers' battle between Alexander and
Adams, the former allowing but four hlta,
one of which waa Willlama' homer In the

Birdie Luti, who a week ago appeared
at the Douglas county fair grounds, as
a dark home and carried away first
honors, repeated again yaaterday and won
two out of the three motorcycle races on
the program. Luti copped the five and
seven-mlla events, but In tho fifteen
mile free-for-all, he encountered engine
trouble on the third lap, when already
well In the lead and waa forced to drop
out.
The fifteen-mile race was a consider
able event despite the accident to Luti".
Otto Ramer lipped Into the lead upon
Birdie's retirement fend kept it for ten
miles, when suddenly Carl Peterson, rid
ing an old, strap-drive machine, began
to pick tip and by more clever riding on
the turns, passed Ramer. Peterson held
the lead until the last lap, when Ramer
passed him and won.
Ramer's new machine was much faater
than Peterson's belt-drive and many
times Otto gained fifteen yards on the
stretches, but on the turns Peteraon out
rode Ramer and thus made the race
exciting. 7
Flaher Has Accident. .
Herman Flaher escaped Injury In the
narrowest possible manner when he was
thrown from his machine on the curve.
The referee ruled that Van Avery fouled
him and Van Avery was disqualified.
Fisher went down In a heap and, as
Fred Krueger was right behind him, an
Injury seemed imminent But Krueger,
who was riding his first race, kept bis
head and cut In toward the pole, Just
missing the wrecked rider by his clever
manipulation of the wheel. As Flaher
waa on the track the other riders were
flagged ln and the race started a second
Urns. J
