Wheat was strong today, selling from
IH to 4 cent higher. Light receipts and
good demand caused a good advance
In wheat and corn.
Corn sold unchanged to a half higher,
nd oat remained unchanged. Yellow
corn sold at a alight advance over the
white and mixed In the commercial
grade.
There were no sale of rye vr barley
reported and thoee markets were nomi
nally unchanged.
It Is ths general belief of the wheat
trade that until there Is more settled
weather over the greater part of the
winter wheat country and larger reowlpt,
an unsettled market Is to be expected.
The light stocks leave the market with
out any balance wheel, and with many
of the exporters short th caan wheat
and millers without stocks, an absorp
tion of the new offerings le expected.
Clearances were: Wheat and flour
equal to MO.OOO bushels, corn. OMJOO bush
els, and oats, tx.iao bushels.
Liverpool closed with wheat unohanged
to lSd higher and corn unjehanged to Hd
higher.

July delivery of whent showed the
greatest setback, as receipts here today
were materially enlarged, and the esti
mate was thai arrivals Monday would
total 200 carloads or more. In tills con
nection, significance was attached to ad
vices from southern Illinois that thresh
ing was being rushed by means of double
crews working far Into the night. The
trade was further handicapped by ef
forts to market an unusual amount of
damp wheat that could not readily be
disposed of. As a result of the bearish
outlook, all of an early advance was
wiped out and prices continued to sag
the rest of the day except for a slight
reaction at the close.
iBullleh foreign news and predictions of
rainy weather over Sunday were chiefly
responsible for an upturn In prices dur
ing the first half of the session. Euro
peans were said to be showing more
anxiety as to supplies, and It wag said
the exportable surplus of India would be
smaller than had been expected. Tem
porarily, flood conditions In parts of the
Ohio valley and In Kansas and Missouri
counted also against the bears.
Fine weather to promote rapid growth
tended to ease the corn market. What
buying- there was consisted mainly of
profit taking- on ths part of shorts. Oats,
like wheat, felt the effect of sgumented
receipts from the country. Inquires front
shippers were not urgent.
Hogs reached the highest level of the
year. This lent strenntti to provisions.
