CinCAGO, July 12. After making- con
siderable advance today the wheat mar
ket underwent a bearish reaction that
appeared mainly due to the smallneas of
the visible supply decrease. Quotations

pared with Saturday night. Corn finished
at 1c decline to htc advance, oata down
We So. to He and provisions with lossea
of 25c to 80c. '
Discouragement on the nsrt of wheat
bulls became manifest when the domestic
visible supply total showed a failing off
of only 762,000 bushela as against 2.246,000
bushels last week. The pessimistic feel
ing was emphasised by the fact that al
though a break in value permitted the
transaction of aome export business the
amount done was not large. Furthermore
a majority of traders late in the session
seemed to swing; around to a belief that
augumented arrivals of new wheat would
soon bn on hand In Chicago, aa well as
at St. Louis and Kansas City. A 5-rent
fall In cash premiums at Kansas City
waa noticeably Influential In the selling;
tbat accompanied the sag to the low point
here.
Unfavorable harvest weather east of
the Missouri river had much to do with
the early advance In the price of wheat.
Bullish sentiment waa also temporarily
aroused by Liverpool dispatches that sup
plies to Europe did not meet requirements
and that the amount of wheat on ocean
passage should be reduced more than
5,000,000 bushela.
In the com market wet weather and
the lightness of atocka and of country
offerings tended to suppress bearish at
tacks so far aa the July option waa con
cerned. The deferred months, however.
were clearly affected by the wheat weak
ness. Oats were governed chletly by the
action of other grains. Crop reports
taken as a whole were against the bulls.
Lowest levels so far this year were
reached In the price of provisions. Liq
uidating sales so noticeable last week
were again In progress and there waa no
support to speak or except from snorts,
