Pa's New Hurler Heaves Second
Game with the Rourkelets
and Wins 1 to 0.
ALLOWS BUT THREE SINGLES
In a gam which, despite the muddy
field upon which It was played, wit a
decidedly brilliant nffalr, Omaha beat
Denver Wednesday afternoon In the ninth
inning by a score of 1 to 0. North, a
new man for the RourVes, pitched bis
second contest, and his second victory
for the home club was a shutout.
At all periods he held the Bears safe,
the entire outfit gafierlug but three sin
gles, and not a man reaching third base.
Harrington for the enemy also hurled a
treditable game, keeping Omaha well In
hand until the last stama.
In this inning Krueger singled nnd ad
anced to third on Krug's sacrifice out.
Yhomason then brought in the merchan
dise with a neat single to right and the
thing was over.
Game Delayed by Rain.
Both teams played errorless ball and
executed a pair of double plays each.
Although a half-hour delay was occa
sioned at the opening, because of wet
grounds, the game was over before 6
o'clock, taking Just one hour and twenty
minutes.
Umpire Van Sickle performed exceed
ingly well and was not barked at once
by either side. In fact, a more cleanly
bit of adjudication has not been seen at
Rourke park this year.
This afternoon a double-header will be
ke menu,' the first -gam starting at 2
o'clock sharp. As an additional feature
Mr. Rourke has negotiated with the South
Dakota Elks' band of twenty-nine pieces
and they will furnish harmony through
out the afternoon for the crowd. The
band Is en route to Ban Francisco. Score:

Sing Stecher's Fame
In Ragtime Ballads
Around Local Cafes
' Jo Stecher. Ilk the heroes of .old. 1
now depicted In ballad. True. It I rag
time, and parody, at that, but ' ballad
nevertheless it Is.
Here' one they're singing around cafes,
using the music of "I Didn't Raise My
Boy to Be a Soldier"!
Ten thousand fans out to Rourke park
went;
They will never go there again.
Ten thousand mat bugs' heart ar
aching
From the sight of Cutler's glssard break
ing. They all saw Joe 'Stecher.
They all dough had bet,
So through their sobs
We heard them era:
'They didn't raise Kid Cutler to be a
wrestler;
they brought him up to be a real guy'
toy.
Who dares to place a foot upon the mat
tress ana spin our aarung joe-y.
It wotild-b wrestlers arbitrate their
troubles.
It's time to can that tiresome Bull.
There'd be no punk bouts today,
Now that the bunch can see
That they can't p-oduee a guy to throw
our Steche-r-r-r-rr!"
There Is also a song to the tune of
"Ballln" th Jack" and another to "Wrap
Me In a Bundle."
Immediately after th big bout Monday
night, Stecher with' some friends repaired
to th Henshaw for dinner. They hadn't
been there ten minute before on of th
Cottrell sisters had the building shaking
with cheers at ber song: "They Didn't
Raise Kid Cutler to Be a Wrestler."
