sharply on Monday, hut since that time
tho tendency has been gradually upward.
At the close of tho week good to clioloo
well-finished dry lot cattle are fully
steady with last weok's close, and some
are quoting It even stronger. The so
called In-between kinds, the common and
Ttsssy kinds, while somewhat belter than
on Monday, are still around lvjl6c lower
than at last week's close. The rpread
between thegood and the less desirable
kinds is graduslly widening, as usual at
this season of the year.
Cows and heifers, well fattened In drf
lot, have been good sellers all week, and
ere fully steady with Inst week's close.
The less desirable kinds showing more
01 less grass have been gradually easing
off and are still lower than last week's
close. Corn fed bulla show little change,
but grassy bulls are lower and slow sell
era Veal calves have been steady all
week.
The best feeders, having both weight
and quality, are as high as any time, but
the trashy light feeders snd stockera
that constitute the bulk of the receipts
at the present time have been slow and
a little lower than a week ago.

HOOS Receipts today were the larg
est of the week todate, being estimated
st 141 cars, or 9.900 head. The week's
supply foots up In the neighborhood of
4S.814 head, being 9.000 smaller than last
week, and a shortage of almost 2.000 head
as compared with Last year. This Is one
Of the few weeks this year mat nas
shown a decrease as compared with the
corresponding period or 1914.
Shippers, while willing to buy hogs
early, refused to psy much. If any, ad
vance over yesteraay s prices, anu sucn
hogs as they bought were no more than
steady to strong, snd st the outside a
nickel higher. Bulk of their purohaaea
were made at 17.407.60, the latter price
being the day's top.
Packers' first purchases were a full
nickel up, and towards the close some
sales were made that looked nearly a
dime higher. The trade closed up fairly
active, and practically everything had
been caahed by 10 o'clock, or shortly
after. As a general thing, packer droves
were a good big nickel, snd snms traders
.thought as much at 6410c higher.
Average trade was all of a nickel
higher. Bulk of all tha sales was quoted
at S7.904I7.46, and there was quite a
sprinkling as high as 27.50, the top. For
tha wsek, prions are, on the average,
largely a dime up. Packers' hoga sre a
full dime better, and In some cases as
much as lOtylSc higher, while shippers
do not shorn- much mors than a nickel
advance ,and tops sre jest the same as
they were laat Saturday.
