wheat galea rexrtr.l and the market waa
quoted c wrr. The dark turkey
varieties command a premium of Wlo
over the ordinary hard wmter wneat.
The reoeipta if corn were good and
there was a god amount of white and
yellow com sold, the white corn selling1
at a alight advance over the yellow and
mixed.
'ihe oats receipts wore light, but most
of that cereal on the tablos was eold.
The corn market remained unchanged
to Ho lower, while oats were off
Crop reports show a winter wheat condi
tion of around M per cent Soring wheat
reports were good a a whole. Some
complaints on corn are coming from
parts of Iowa, Indiana and Nebraska,
but tho outlook In general for corn and
oats Is good,

Selling pressure due to evening up for
the government report constituted the
chief Influence In the wheat pit aa the
end of the day approached. Previously,
the market had been developing renewed
strength after having at the outset suf
fered a sharp breRk that resulted from
a sensational tumble In prlcea at Liver
pool. Decided revival of export demand,
however, had prevented the break In
Chicago from being anything like aa far
reaching. Furthermore there aeemed to
rely on a considerable extent on denials
that progress against the Turks at the
Dardanelles haa been as Important aa
first aeemed to be the case. Word from
Oklahoma that the crop there was about
at the limit of endurance In respect to
over-surtpiv of moisture tended also to
favor the bulls.
Foreign Inquiry after new crop winter
wheat todav was the best In some time.
There was likewise an excellent call for
old crop wheat to go to the seaboard.
Country offerings here were small and
it was said they dried up altogether when
the market was at the low points of the
day. Feeling at the close was described
as' unsettled.
Com fluctuated for the most Dart ac
cording to the action of wheat. Com
plaints aa to the condition of the nrop
in Iowa and Nebraaka had some effect
on values and so too did Improvement of
cash demand, both domestic and foreign.
Auspicious field conditions put selling;
pressure on oalw. Shipping call was good,
and Included a feir amount for export.
Provisions gave way a little as a re
sult of the setback In grain. Higher
prlcea for hoga were very generally
Ignored.

CATTIJC-Recelpta were hardly aa

fact, together with somewhat more
favorable reports from outside markets,
gave the trade a decidedly stronger tone
and business was active light trom the
start, at prices strong to 10c- higher than
Monday. In addition to a very good de
mand from all the local dreased beef men
there waa considerable inquiry for sbl pi
ping account and thla naturally helped to
liven up trade. Most of the Improvement,
however, was noted on the good to
rhoice beeves, yearlings telng quoted aa
high aa $9.00, and the best oi the heavy
tattle selling up around $3.78. Medium
and common stuff was not much sought
after and sold unevenly, although on an
average fully aa good as yesterday.
It was the aame old story in cows anu
heifers. Desirable corn fed stock found an
active demand at fully steady prloes,
while the grassy and half-fat grades
were hard tj move at more r-r leas
shaded figures. Veil calves were In vigor
rua request and fully steady and there
waa a very satisfactory cutlet ror ouiia,
stags and rough stock generally.
There was not much activity In the
stocker and feeder trade, aa supplies
were limited and the demand not very
I road. Desirable stock of all weights
found a ready sale at fully steady prlcea
and In some cases a shade stronger,
while on the general run of stuff It was
nominally a steady market and not
