LARSON HEAVES NICE GAME
An eighth Inning rally staged by Marty
it rug a afspeniip einieies uroim up m
swell hurling dnel between Bert Iron
and lefty Thomas and gave Omaha the
long end of one of the bent little ball
games ever ecn at the Rourke lot. Two
runners were hammered across in the
eighth ard the Rnurkee copped. 3 to 2.
To say that the fray yesterday waa
grt at hall game Is puttln git mildly. It
Wii." greater. Larson ond Thomas both
henved nice hall, hut It was the fielding
which attracted first attention. Both the
Boosters and the Rourkes were on the
toeK from start to finish and the fana
n. Fl'tlng on the third rail every min
ute, Evn though Larson and ThomM
wore performing quite niftlly the athletes
of both forces bumped the. ball hard in
the nose at all times. At least a dosen

Whalen and Breen ahtne.
ned Whalen and Dick Breed of the
Rourkes and Pawyer of the Boosters w;re
the aensations in this line. Red and
Breen both made stops that bordered on
the miraculous, while Sawyer made two
assists that were wonders. Breen and
Whalen also stnged two ripping double
plays around second, and ISawyer carried
the load in one made by the Boosters.
Omaha made the first run of the ma'.l
nee when Krug, second up In the second
frame, poled a triple to center. Thorua
son walked and when Sawyer made a
one-handed stop of Schltebner's drive to
catch Tommy at second Manager Marty

Hunter opened the frame with a double
and Tex Jones boostea a siani over m
right field wail for a circuit ticket, count
ing Hunter ahead of him. Bills slammed
a drive to short "that looked safe, but
Whalen made a great running atop and
pegged JJue out. Then Earl Smith made
a diving shoestring catch In left of Saw
yer's clout and the heart was taken out
of the Boosters.
One run behind the home artillery un
llmbered in the eighth and two runs were
marked. Whalen opened wtu a triple to
right. Kafora was called upon to pinch
for Irson. but fell down on the Job. But
Tlarl Smith was on the Job and he cracked
a double that went by .TannehUl . like, the
Twentieth Century Limited. Whalen
scampered homo with odlee of. time to
spare. Smith darted to third on Breen'
Infield out. Foraythe dropped one In
front of Thomaa and Tex JoJnes muffed
Lefty's throw to first, allowing Forsyth
to land safe and Smith to mark tho win
ning score.
Doable Play Bhada Osuaa.
Clrnvan took up Larson's Job in the
ninth and faltered a moment at Ue start,
making thing! look rather bad for tho
home boys. Hunter walked on four
straight balls, and then JoJnea waa
soaked In tho knee. A quick play, ox
Bills' grounder by Whalen to Krug forced
Hunter at third and av rtiM-ein;' doubla

Make Twenty-Two Assists.
Only three men were left stranded en
the bases on each team. The Rourke in
field chalked up twenty-two assists, which
show the brand of fielding- executed
while the Booster made seventeen as
