Second Game of the Season for the
Rourkes Lost by Score of
One to Nothing.
0NEILL WATCHES HIS UMP
By K. . Ill NTKR.
ST. JOSEPH, Mo., April 25. (Special
Telegram.) Day Vance, the lanky pink-
eyed youth who was decorated with the
t'nware at Pittsburgh, administered a
shutout licking to Marty Krug's gallant
troops In the combat here today. Daisy
was exceedingly stingy with the base
knocks, allowing but three, and Ralph
Willis Inst a neat pitchers' battle, 1 to 0.
Mr. Parent, the well known umpire, was
the brlRht light of the matinee. With
Trcxle Tip O'Neill on hand to watch him,
Mr. Parent did a swell Job. Vance got
eikht strikeouts, with the able assistance
of Parent, and his work In the final
frame so Incensed Mnrty Krug that be
fore the inning was well under way Marty
found a ten-buck fine attached to him.
In the seventh Inning Parent forgot
there was a ball game going on. Agnew
had stepped to the plate and filed ot.t lo
Payne before the umpa was wise to what
was going on. As a result he called Ag
new back and let him make another out.
Only Hnn.ln Fourth.
The lone run of the game came In the
fourth round. With two down Watson
beat out an infield hit to Krug. Patter
son was donated a walk by the umps, and
Williams poled a hit over second which
geve Watson time to register.
Only one Rourke got to third base dur
ing the fray. Krueger waa hit in the
Flats by one of Dairy's slants, and went
to second on Whalen's blow. Daily un
coupled a hectic heave, on which K mater
romped to third. He was left strandtyl
tl.ere. as Willis popped up to Patterson
and Payne whiffed. .
Breen was the unfortunate of the day
Three times I'rapi Parent whiffed him.
Krug and Huelaman were also fanped by
the demon umpa..
mlth .Not on Hand.
Smith, the new outfielder, failed to ap
pear today as expected. He should re
port here tomorrow.
Saturday night some miscreant busted
Into Jack Holland's famous commissary
and swiped all the crackerjack tn sight.
Jack lias the entire police department on
the trail of the thief. As a result of the
darhiK burglary the fans present loday
were lot overly molested by the peanut
