CATTLK Receipts of cattle have bean
very liberal thla week, showing consider
able gains over last week and a year ago.
Tha arrivals have consisted very largely
of beef steers, all hough the admission of
stock em and feeders from Iowa has
naturally Increased tha receipts of that
kind ot rattle to some extent.
Tho difficulty experienced by shippers
In getting cattle purchased on the Chi
cago market through New York and
IHinngylvanla, owing to the embargo In
those states against territory not abso
lutely free from foot and mouth disease
has sent a good many shipping orders to
this market. As a result the demand for
rattle has been good at this point all the
week, and prices have held up very much
belter than at eastern points. At the
close of the week good snipping cattle,
that Is cattle with flesh, are not over HVJ
l&o lower than a week ago, with less de
sirable kinds Ui26o lowei.
Cows and heifers have been In large
supply and have shown more decline than
beef steers, being generally around Xkj
lower for tho week.
Tha best feeders have been firm all the
weak, but the less desirable kinds ot both
stockers and feeders have been easing off
during the last two or three days, so that
the market for the week la oloslng a lit
tle lower, ritock calves sre around ia
lower than last week. Block rows snd
heifers, whloh were strong early la the
week, are closing a little lower.
