The receipts of wheat, corn and osta
are very light In the local maraet. A
year ast today there was a total of over
SiiO cars received, while todav the total
receipts were only 171 cars, i'hlcago led
all other market, .vltlt receipts of ap
proximately l.o cars. The May option
on wheat was jc,- under Saturday's
closing price, and gradually went down
to the $1.M level. Although receipts were
very light, there Was ery little demand
for either wheat, corn or oata In the local
rash market, and all of these grains sold
considerably under the closing prices of
the previous day.

of the recent almost unlimited European
demand being perhaps suddenly reduced
to an unknown extent

here for the seaboard.
Provisions gave way with wheat and
corn. Pork In particular was affected
by sharp stop loss selling.

CATTLE There was a good liberal run
of cattle this morning, 227 car. being
reported in. Naturally buyer, were a
little Inclined to take advantage of the
lllieral offering, to bid lower prices.
However, the buying demand proved to
be very good, so that desirable beef steers
commanded good, steady prices, the best
selling up to $8.00. Tho less desirable
kinds, that la, the common to medium
grades, were a little slow and weak to
possibly a little lower In spots.
Buyers generally started out talking
lower prices on cows and heifers, being
apparently inclined to take off a. much
a. they put on yefterday. On the other
hand, there waa a good shipping demand
on the part of local packers, which
tended to hold the market at pretty close
to ateady figures, so far aa the better
grade, were concerned. I,eaa desirable
klnda, that Is, kinds on which shippers
did not bid, were possibly a little lower.
There was no material change In the
market on feeders, prices as a rule being
steady. The demand for stock cattle wae
quite brisk and desirable kinds were
strong.
