I'ercy MacKaye's oriental masque, "A
Thousand Years Ago,". Tuesday evening
at the Young Women's Christian asso
ciation auditorium, 'This performance,
which will take the place of the club's
annual party, was planned by Mrs. John
O. Yciser, chairman of the program com
mittee, and was executed under the de
tection of Mrs. W. I Selby. Mrs. George
C. Edgerly is president of the club. The
women have beecn rehearsing faithfully
for many weaks and a finished program
Is expected. The costuming will be In
exact reproduction of the period -represented
by the masque. Music will be
given under the direction of Henry Cox.

The V. S. Grant post has Invited the
Woman's Relief Corps to be present at
the memorial services In honor of the
late Major Clarkson and Colonel John
Dempster, which will be held Tuesday
evening at Memorial hall. The Theologi
cal Seminary quartet will furnish the
music for the services.
Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock the North
Side Circle of the Child Conservation
League of America will meet In the audi
torium of the Monmouth Park school, the
subject for the day's program being
"Civics." Mrs. George C. Adwers, presi
dent of the circle, will give sn address,
"The Awakening of Civic Pride In the
United States. Mrs. W. C. Price will resd
a paper on "How the State of Louisiana
Cleaned House," and Mrs. C. J. WondeT
will give a paper on "Sanitation in Our
City and the Social Duty of Cleanliness."

The Mothers' Culture club will be enter
tained by Mrs. F. J. Taggart at the Hotel
Loyal Friday afternoon. Miss Blanche
Sorenson will address the club on "Talk
Songs for Children," and Miss Margaret
Wddock, an Indian maiden from Walthlll,
Neb., who Is attending Bellevue college,
will tell about the Indian folk songs and
illustrate them by singing several, of the
folk-songs. Miss Diddock Ja a niece of
Dr. Susan La Flcsche Plootte. well known
because of her connection with the State
Federation of Women's Clubs. Mrs.
Charles G. ' Trimble will give Items of
current events and Mrs. J. F. Beard will
have as her subject "Old Hymns and
