In the end beef steers sold around 10c,
and In spots as much aa luc lower than
veaterdav. Another way to describe the

dication that there are still plenty of
horses in the country and thst farmers
are anxious to take advantage of pre

harbors appropriation bill, carrying; mora
than $34,000,000, passed the house tonight
by a vote of 164 to 8L The bill now goes
to the senate, where a protracted fight Is
expected.
All efforts to block or' substantially
amend the bill failed. Amendment after
amendment was voted down aa the house
remained In session late In the night, do- '
termlned to pass the bill before adjourn
ment. .
The bill authorises no new projects, the ,
$.14,000,000 being; apportioned to continue
Improvements already under way.
The larger allotments of ths money ap
propriated Include 17,187,000 for the Missis

Tumulty, secretary to President Wilson,
Issued a statement today referring to
testimony given yesterday by Walker W.
V'lck, former collector of customs at Santo
Domingo, at the Investigation being con
ducted Into the acts of Minister Bulllvan
of fianto Domingo. Vlck Intimated that
Mr. Tumulty had been responsible for
Secretary Bryan's unfavorable attitude
toward him.
'I am ready to testify regarding my
connection with Vlck and Sullivan." said
