export demand today pullet the ground

being heavy from tho start and at one
time 3Hn down for May, the market
cloned unsettled at 2i'(fa to 2c under
last night. Other leading staples too, all
showed net losees: Corn, IHe to H'OVicr
oats. Kil l He to lHc, and provisions, 10c to
Wheat suffered Us greatest depression
when the fact was made reasonable sure
of that foreign buying had come to at
least a temporary relative halt. The
more or lear complete stoppage of Euro
pean demand waa in a measure explained
by a drop In quotations, at Liverpool
said to be due to cheaper o-ffcra from
Argentina and also from India.
Somewhat increased receipts of wheat,
especially at Minneapolis and Duluth,
tended to discourage the bulls right at
the outset Then, too, snow falls were
benefiting the domeatlo winter crop.
Lessening of export sales acted as a
handicap on corn and also did the break
in the wheat market. Liverpool prices
were unresponsive to vesterlav'a ad
vance here. Moreover, big receipts added
to the huge domestic stocks. Neverthe
less all attempta to stampede holders
were stubbornly contested. In the outs
crowd, heavy tilling by one of the larg
est houses continued to be the main
