Interest Rates to Home Builders Not to Be Reduced It has been pretty definitely settled by the officers of the building and loan companies of Omaha that the Interest rate will not be reduced with the coming of next year and at the same time It ha been determined tht the dividend rate of 8 per cent, payable semi-annually, will not be cut At the annual meeting of the building and loan companies, held some weeka ago the unanimous sentiment prevailed that beginning with next year the Interest rate on loan should be reduced to a flat per cent and the dividend rate to 5V4 per cent. Since then It has developed that there ha been an unusually heavy demand for money for the building of homes ana at the same time the amount of money placed on deposit to draw In terest has Increased. However, the In crease in desoslts haa not kept pace with the demand upon the part of the home builders. Consequently it Is agreed that it would not be advisable to cut the dividend rate, for by cutting It, It la asserted that the deposit would fall off to such un extent that It might be Im possible to secure sufficient cash to meet the demands of the borrowers IlulldliiK and loan men are of the opin ion that when the statistic are com pleted and the totals made it will be shown that this Is to be one of the best.
