Open Season for
Water Fowl Begins
Tuesday was th ftrat dav of th open
season for shooting duck and other water
fowl, and at dawn the sound of the firing
around Big lake wa suggestive of a
battls. There were many hunter, armed
with automatic repeaters and four scared
little ducks seeking safety by hiding In
th reed. Reports Indicate that not
more than three of them succeeded In
getting away.
Undisturbed by banging shotguns dur
ing the spring flight northward several
families of duck were reared In the
tnarshe around Dig lake, and It was there
half domesticated little creatures that
served as targets for the first onslaught
of the autumn hunter. Hunters ex

cautioned that all shooting of water fowl
on th Missouri river at any point above

Young Women Asked
to Turn in Pictures
All of the young women who took ad
vantage of the opportunity to "snap
shoot" Will Schnorr as m rods on his
steed In Monday afternoon's pageant, are
rsquested to hand In their pictures to
day. They should be left at George Gar
ner' jewelry store. ' The young? woman
who has the beat picture Is to receive a
HO gold coin a th prise offered by At
torney George . Wright. Mr. Schnorr
had to run a perfect battery of kodak
and there are undoubtedly several' hun
dred print made by this time. '
The method of deciding which is the
beet of the lot has not been definitely
determined, but the purpose to dlptay
th pictures In the Auditorium will ' be
adhtred to. The pictures are to be con
plclouly dliplayed and the decision
which Is to determine the winner may
be settled by th vote of the multitude.
One plan auggested I to have Mr. Schnorr
placed on exhibition for a few trying
moments each evening so the voters may
act wisely In expressing their choice. He
positively reftieee to consent to sueW an
arrangement, but his activity as one of
the Knights of the Pull Moon has tadght
him the necessity of sternly doing- his
duty, no matter what, degree of courage
Is required by the ordeal. .
