Tha lunlor tennis tournament, which Is
open to every boy in the city under 11
years of age, will be held at tha Orruvhs.

Is running the affair and all entries must
be handed In to him before o'clock on
the evening of August 31. Entries may

Ralph Powell Is the present lunior
champion and he will defend his title
against the winner of the tournament.

winner of the tourney, but several other
youths have sprung Into prominence re

NORTH PLATTE, Neb., Aug. -(Special.)
The base ball tournament held
here on Wednesday. Thursday and Fri
day of this week proved to be one of the
best ever held In this part of the coun
try. Teams representing Ogallala, Her
shey, Cozad. and North Platte partici
pated and the large crowds of fans who'
turned out to the games were well pleased
with the brand of base ball put up. Every
game played was fast from start to fin
ish, aa is shown by the few runs that
were made. The total score for theslx
games was twenty and the highest score
made by any team in a single game was
three.
The first game on Wednesday between
Ogallala and Coiad was one of the best
of the aeries, Ogallala winning. 3 to 2. In
the second game Herehey shutout North
Platte. J to 0.
Thursday. North Platte defeated Ogal
lala. 2 to 1, In the only extra Inning game
of the aeries. With the score a tie. a
home run In the eleventh Inning by First
Baseman Peers of North Platte, caused
the fans to go wild with excitement. In
the second game Cosad won from Her
stiep, 3 to 0.
Friday the fans were again treated to
big league ball Ogallala won from Her
hep on a squeeze play In the eighth In
ning by a 2 to 1 score. In the second
game North Platte was saved a shut out
by the use of a pinch hitter In the lat
of the ninth who poled out a two-base
hit with a man on second. The game
ended 2 to 1 In favor of Coiad.

The Methodist Baracas cinched the
championship of the Church league by
trouncing the South Omaha Baptists yes
terday afternoon, 8 to 4, after a spirited
encounter. The Baracaa have now won
three pennants track, basket ball and
base ball. Th Baracas are, endeavoring
to arrange for a game with the City
league champions. Batteries for the
Baracas were Olson, Moore and Fltzpat
rlck. and for the Poufh Omaha Baptists,
Burk, Maxwell and Mooney.
