RODRKES AND LINKS SPLIT
Omaha Wini First Game Rally,

BOY SANDERS HAS HARD LUCK
ge.ml-pra. If arler loae Ilia (iimc

Riaam Are on Raw-way.
. On swell rally, aided and abetted by
Mfiin. Congalton, Bell and Krueger,
pulled th first game of tha fabbath ber
rain matinee at Rourk park from tha
Link, i to 2, but a couple of hectic
heaves, manipulated by Messis. Krueger
nd Thorn cost Omaha the second bat
tle. 1 to 1. The aerond name was a tough
ana for Roy Sander to lose, byt hia mates
vera too prone, to muks costly errors.
.' Tha Rourkes opened the first fray by
coring twice In tha ripening frame off
Smith, official Jinx of the Omaha club.
Thomas, Burrell and Hrhlnlbner singled
In succession, and Congalton lifted a sacri
fice fly to Allen, bringing about tha said
result Tha Unks scored two In tha
second whan Thomason dropped Miller's
fly and that gentleman went to second.
A bas on balls was Issued to Blackbume
nd Qulllin sacrificed. Collins' hit sent
Miller and Blackburn over.
. Colllna' alngle. Schrelber's two-bagger,
an error by Schlelbner and a sacrifice fly
ty McOafflgan gave Lloyd's gang of
ball players two In tha fifth. Omaha
tame back with one In tha local half of
- of the same round. Krueger doubled and
cored on King's drive through McOaf
flgan, . (.an, Co peed la Math.
Smith held the Rourkea tight until tha
ninth, when he blew, and Jordan was
called to tha fray. Co.igalton singled and
Thorns walked end Bmlth was derrlcked.
Bell, Just returned from Racine, poked
one of Jordan's offerings to left, scoring
Congalton and tying tha combat.
Krueger' single over second scored
Thomas with the winning run.
Tho second game was a heart-breaker.
Cooney and Panders heaved nicely until
the fourth, when Omaha mad tha first
run. Krug was hit "in tha tonneau, and
w sacrificed to second by Thomason.
Burrell's single past third sent him home.
That was all that Omaha made as tha
Rourke sluggers fell down In tha pinches
front that time on.
In the fifth McOafflgan singled and
stole second while Krueger snd Handera
got mixed up on their signals, and Mc
Gaffigan took third when tha ball got
past the Omaha catcher. Krueger mads
a bum heave to Burrell to catch Mc
Oafflgan at third. Tha ball rolled into
left field and the Lincoln shortstop
started for horns. Joe Bell made a per
fect heave to the plate and Kruger stood
waiting for McOafflgan to hit tha plate.
Instead. Knocks hit Krueger and the pill
rolled to one side. Pome classy exhibition
of bum acting. 'j
- Not satisfied with this nifty piece of
work tha Uotirkes decided to present Mc
Oafflgan with another run In the eighth,
lie hit a double to right and was sacri
ft ed to second by Lloyd. Miller hit a
grounder which Burrell touched, but tho
ball caromed off his glove Into the out
stretched hands of Thomas, covering up
the play. Thomas threw to the piate.
The heave missed Krueger a foot, and
the pill rolled to the grandstand. That
cinched the game for the Links.
New Imp. Makes lilt.
, On of th pleasing features of tha
d"uble bill was the work of t'mplre Van
gycle. Van ,waa bounced from the Fed
eral league a few days ago, and tied up
with the Western circuit. He kept tha
game moving all the tlnte and never
permitted the athletra to lag aa la their
eUHtom. As a '.es'ilt the two games were
played In three houra and twenty min
utes, almost a record for this league.
Van was good cn balls and strikes, too,
ad It Is only hoped that he will be able
to umpiie all the games played on the
local lot. Score:
