Jerry Wagner, an old pioneer and bust
bees man of Euatia, after suffering years
from heart trouble, succumbed to the
Inevitable and passed away late Monday
evening of mitral heart lesion- He was
41 year old.
Mr. Wagner came to Eustis In 1K, en
gaging In th hardware business. About
thirteen years later he sold out and en
gaged in the furniture business and still
later going Into th general merchandise
buainess. He leaves a widow, a son and
a daughter. Mr. Wagner was born near
Free port. 111., and the body ; was taken
there for burial. As a mark of respect
all the bualneas houses ia town closed
their door from 4 to 6 o'clock, during
the services at the house.

funeral of Mrs. Amos Parker, who died
recently la an Omaha hospital, was held
from the Presbyterian church yesterday
afternoon. Mrs. Parker wss the mother
of President Parker of the First National
bank and waa one of the pioneer of Ce
dar county.

ROBBER MAKES ROUNDS
OF STORES IN RAVENNA
RAVENNA, Neb., Aug. (.-(Special.)-"
A bold robber made the rounds of Ra
venna business house last night and
early this morning. The Joe Smaha meat
market was entered and a small amount
of change taken. In addition the robber
here secured a diamond ring valued at
3oO which Otto Smaha had left In the
cash register.
The Ski-able pool hall was broken into,
aa was the John Kalus saloon, at each
place the robber secured some small
change from the cash drawers. The
next place visited was the Frank Ger
hold saloon.
Just before S o'clock he was seen by a
cot pie of railroad employes, who called
the night policeman. All three men went
to the back door, which was open, and
the ' robber Immediately rushed to the
front of the saloon, kicked out a plate
glass and Jumped Into the street. He
eosily outran the officers and railroad
men and, having more than a half block
atsrt, was soon lost to sight. A few
drops of blood on the sidewalk, indicate
that he may have been slightly cut by
the glass.

this afternoon agreed on the state levy
at 7 and 8-100 mills, the same as laat year,
divided as follows: General, 6 mills;
university, 1; university building, 4; nor
mal school, 85-100; state aid bridge, 20-100.
The valuation on lands was raised In the
following counties: Burt, Dodge, Doug
las, Gage, Keya Paha, Cherry, Pawnee
and Saunders 6 per cent each; Arthur and
McPherson, 46; Morrill, 40; Deuel and
Keith, 20; Thomas, 25; Nance, U; Dun
