The motor picnic Is the favorite recre
ation this summer In Omaha, and rarely
has the country been so beautiful aa this
year. Last year at thto time there was bo
much dust owing to the lack of rain
that motor picnics were moro or leas
abandoned until fall, so the enthusiasts
arc making; up for tost time.
Klrkwood, the attractive, country home
of Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Klrkendall, and
Roremere lodge, the country homo of
Dr. and Mrs. C C, Allison, which has
been leased this summer by Mr. and Mrs.
C M. Wilhelm, are especially popular
and at least one motor plcnlo a week la
given at these country places.
Swimming- parties at the sand pits nt
Valley are also much enjoyed and after
a dip in the water, cither a chicken din
ner at the hotel or it pfcnlo luncheon In
the woods. Several automobile parties go
from Omaha almost every evonlng.
Spending1 Summer Abroad.
Mfc and Mrs. John Potter Webster, who
are on their wedding trip abroad, have
been spending; several weeks in London.
Recently they went to Westminster Abboy
where they happened to bo seated next
to Mrs. Oeorge Palmer and family, who
reside less than a block from thorn In
Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Beeson received
a cable this week from their daughter,
Mrs. Webster, saying they wore loavlng
for Paris and would sail for homo
August 19 on tho Olympic.

Camp Mlchlgomme, Mich., with her
daughters, Henrietta and Louise, who
will Join a Girls' camp for the rest of tho
summer. Mrs. Fort returns today and
expects to leave next woek for a month
at Westhampton, L I., where she will
be the guest of Mrs. George Wilder of
California, who has a cottage at West
hampton. Mrs. O. H. Wlrth leaves today for
Denver, Colorado Springs and other Colo
rado resorts, to be gone until Septem
ber 1.
