Motor trips are the most popular di
version this year. One of tho longest
trips by automobile la planned by Mr.
Ward Burgess and Mr. Joseph Darker,
who will go to Wlanno, Mass., where
their families are spending the summer.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Reed and daughters,
Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Wattles and daugh
ters, Mr. Frank Durklcy and Miss Mary
Burkley and Mr. Luther Drake, all leave
here July 29 for Albany, where the Wat
tle and Reed cars will meet them and
the entire party will motor from there
to Boston and Wlanno. Miss Lynn Cur
tis expects to go from Greenwich to Wl
anno the first of August.
MVS. Thomas Kllpatrlck left Thursday
evening for Lake Placid, N. Y., to Join
Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Mlxter at their
camp. While away they will motor
through the Berkshlres and later Mrs.
Kllpatrlck will also take a motor trip
with her brother, Mr. Charles Ilurnham,
of Cleveland.
Mr. and Mra. F. H. Davis and their
daughters, Miss Elizabeth and Miss
Mellora Davis, left Thursday for At
lantic City, and after a week there will
motor In their car to Lake Champluln,
returning later to Watch Hill, R. I., for
the remainder of the season.
Mrs. W. L. Yetter and son. Barnett
Tetter, have returned from a motor trip
to Kansas City, where they spent two
-weeks visiting friends.
Mr. and Mrs. John C. Klauck and fam
ily have returned from a throe weeks'
motor trip to Chicago. They wont to Chi
cago In two days over the Whlto Polo
road and returned by way of the Lincoln
Highway. Extensive Improvements arc
being made on the Iowa roada.
Mr. John Caldwell, Mr. Cuthbert Potter
and Mr. Ben Gallagher have pone to

with Mr. Clarence and Mr. Douglas Peters

Dubuque, where the former will remain

To Attend Opening of Stadium.
Mlaa Helen Epeneter is a popular nnd
fortunate young woman who will attend
the Yale-Princeton foot ball gamo the
Saturday preceding Thanksgiving. This
game will bo tho formal opening of tho
new stadium or "punch bowl" as the
new athletlo field la called at Yale.
Miss Epeneter goes cast this fall to
spend several weeks with her aunt, Mrs.
Milan Parks Harlow, of Hartford, Conn.,
who will entertain at a house party at
the time of the game, for a number of
Yale men.
Return from Europe.
The travelers abroad ore planning to
return homo shortly, Mrs. Nathan Mer
rtam and Miss Mildred Merrlam, who
are at the. seashore at Torquay, England,
have engaged passage on tho steamer
Olympic, sailing July II.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Haller, who,
with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Reed of Paris,
formerly of Omaha, have been at Bad
Nouhelm, will sail July 23 on the steamer.

landed recently at Bremen, have gone

day .with an attack of appendicitis and
was removed to a hospital and operated
upon that evening, and Is doing well.

Marjorio McCord and Miss ''Elizabeth
Evans,-' who have been "visiting at West
Point, N. Y., chaperoned by Mrs. Evans.

wedding of a cousin at Philadelphia and

Evans Is tho daughter of Colonel and

Prizes for Tennis.
Mrs. J. T. Stewart, 2d, won tho tennis
finals In singles from Miss Erna Reed,
who had defeated Miss Marion Howo In
the semi-finals. The match was the one
begun on the Fourth of July and was
only completed Monday of this week.
The prizes were gold framed mirrors,
presented by Mr. F. W. Judson. In tho
consolation singles Mies Elizabeth Ring
wait defeated Miss Mary Burkley- and
won a very pretty little vanity case put
up by the club. The doubles were played
oft Tuesday, Miss Claire Daugherty and
Miss Marlon Hbwe winning from Miss
Dprtthy Judson and Miss Esther Smith,
both Brownell Hall students. The prizes
were parasols.

Mrs. W. G. Silver won the prize for tho
Women Qolfers of the Field club, Friday,
and was awarded an attractive picture.
Mrs, E. II. S prague .won tho prize for
tho Women Golfers tournament last
week, with a score of fifty for nine holes.
She was given six lemonade glasses with
glass straws.

Order of tho Eastern Star, at Carter
lake club Friday afternoon and evening.

the season. In the afternoon there were
cards for the women and all the water
sports and In the ovenlng there were moV'
ing pictures and dancing for the enter
talnment of the guests. A feature of the
dancing was the old fashioned square
dances. At the cabaret dinner at which
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Marshall were the
entertainers, 275 covers were laid. Miss
Jean Wallace was chairman of the com
mittee in charge, and was assisted by Mr,

foot's yacht, which took part in the rac
ing cruise of the Eastern Yacht club and
came in third. Mr. Page left the yacht
at Newport and came homo by way of
New York. Mr. F. S. Cowglll, who was
also of the party, will not be homo until
