GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET
No Aotion on Wheat Expected on
This Market Next Month.
FARMERS ARE HOLDING GRAIN
Winter nelt Growers Are HoldliiB
Hack Their Offerings In Hope
of Prices Taklnir n a Lit
tle Higher Level,
OMAHA, June 29, 19H.
There will be no action ot wheat In this
market during next month, and for this
reason there will be Uttlo of this grain
for delivery on July contracts. It Is said
there Is still a good slied open Interest
In that month( which means that the
shorts will elthor be obliged to go Into
tho pit and even up their pos.tlons or pur
chare with tho country and bring It In
and dol.ver It. Conditions In tne July
futuro are abnormal. The largest wheat
crop we havo ever raised In this country
Is at our very doors, hut It Is said that
tho longs In the July will demand deliv
ery of the grain bought, as they pur
chased It for the purpose of shipping It
to tho old world. There Is no open In
terest In tho August future, but the out
ward movement ot wheat during the last
month lll tako care of everything that
Is sent here, as well as in the smaller
markets.
Word comes to Chicago that farmers In
the winter bolt are refusing to foil w
the market downward and to sell their
grain at present levels. It Is now bo
lleved that foreigners who may want to
make further purchases of our grain will
not find It on the bargain counters. The
price break In wheat at Chicago has been
severe, and It is tho largest In many
years, nut before tho present low prK-es
were reported oxportcrs were kind enough
to take on millions of bushels and they
will shin It to foreign countries as rap
idly as It Is to bo had.
Tho In the trade who look upon the
situation as qulto bearish and who feel
tnat lower puces must rule later on, aro
advising their friends and customers
to uso caution In i uttlng out short l.nea
at the present price.
A bullish set of statistics will be spread
befoto tho wheat trade lato toJay. W.th
tho position exception ot lurcr world's
shipments than for tho corresponding
period a year ago, tho figures to be shown
will favor the bulls, The visible supply
Is looked for not to decrease not only In
the United States, but Canada as well.
Thcro Is little or no hade In cash corn.
Tho farm supplies of corn are quite small
anil holders aro not likely to dispose of
their surplus.
Outs aro likely to follow corn In Its
changes, yet there will bo seen less bull
ish enthusiasm In oats than In co.n. Crop
reports In oats are somewhat better, with
tho possible exception of southern Illinois
and the southwest, where rain Is needed.

CHICAGO GRAIN AND PROVISIONS,
Features of the Trndltisr nnd Clnslntr
Prices on Hoard of Trade.
CHICAGO, June 29. Prospect of a heavy
movement of the new winter crop do-
mlnated the wheat market today, but not
until after a buying flurry due In part
to unfounded rumors of ithei discovery of
blnckrutt. The market closed steady at
a decline of 94 to J!4. compared with
Saturday night. Corn nnd oats suffered
a net loss of H to tic In provisions tho
outcome was MT714 to 10c12Wc ad
vance, Although rushes to the buying side of
wheat unsettled' tho market during tho
first hulf of tho session, tho upward ac
tion of prices Invariably proved spas
modic, whereas the late decline had a uni
form contluous character. Higher cables
tended early to help tho hulls, but sub
sequently werb more thun offset by the
bearish aspect of the Kansas tutc crop
report. Tho rust found In tho spring
wheat region turned out to be the red
variety, which cnuscs no damage. Pres
sure was put on the corn market as a re
sult of rains, breaking the drought In
Kansas and Oklahoma. Absence of re
lief in the Ohio Valley was lost sight of.
and so also wero ndvlces ot threatened
delays to Argentine shipments. Hedging
sales pulled down oats. snorts taking
profits seemed to be about tho only
buyers.
Provisions roso with hogs. Packers
selling checked the bulge, though not to
tho extent ot causing any decline.

HOQii A very decent Monday showed
up, about 105 cars or 7,000 head being
estimated. This Is o'cr 2.000 larger than
a week ago, and moro than 1.000 heavier
than the corresponding day last year.
Other markets reported slight advanves
this morning, but In tho face of a fair
run, local packers first bids were no let
ter than steady to possibly a Uttlo
stronger. Shippers and speculators
bought a number of loads during tho
early hours at figures that were strong
to a shade higher. Dalesmen were asking
a nickel advance, but killers refused to
better their early bids, and up to a late
hour the market was practically dead
locked so far as the packers were con
cerned, although shippers and speculators
had been buying rather freelv thnmnhnni
Things moved along In about the aamo
tiuuion umn nearly n o clock, when
packers raised their bids a little all
around, nmi In the end tne buU of tne
offerings sold readily at figures that were
generally a shade higher. Movement was
fairly active after a tradl
reached, and practically everything was
cleaned up by after a little after 11
o clock. Bulk of the sales landed at $8.15
e.v, mm a spnnanng aro una 33.Z3V4 and
a top of $8.25.
