SANDERS PITCHES GREAT GAME Strikes Ont Twenty-One Men nnd Keeps Most of the lilts Within the. Infield la Hard to Find. The Storz at Rourke park Sunday de feated the Old Tavern, a traveling organi zation from Des Moines, 11 to 3. Looming up large In the Storz victory ' was tne Pitching of Roy Sanders, the Missouri phenom, who performed a strike out feat that has never been equalled In a nlne-lnnlng game on tho Rourke field He struck out twenty-one of tho Dot Moines men and until the last Inning not a bull reached tho outricld. Dyer, tha first man up scored a pass, but the fol lowing batsmen were Bet down on strikes. in the Old Tavern's half of tho seventh Haley was the first one to rcaoh first base when he grounded between short and third, which Kelly, subbing in place of Durkce, knocked down, but missed his man by a hair. Bill Adams, who claims tho distinction of having been a St. Loula Brown pitcher ono time, opened on tho mound for the visitors. His stay woa short lived and ho was sent to cover under a storm of base hits. in the Storz half of tho third D. Smith, a grizzled veteran, re- I placed the former major leaguer and man- aged to stop the onslaught for a couple of rounds. Tho Storz, however, renewed their activities In the seventh and eighth. One Had llrenk Added to Sanders' masterful box work was tlio hitting of Graham and Feltman, who divided a half dozen hits between them. Graham, however, was unfortun ate enough to foozle Dyer's grounder In the final Inning, which subsequently, led to the Old Tavern's scores. The mlsplay was followed by a pass and a couple of safe ones over third, which yielded three runs. July i the Storz will meet the eLland Giants on the latters return here.
