the actual wheat to come forward drove
many of the early buyer out of their
position and caused net losses for the
dav of Htftte.
While St. Louis reported that the
larger cash houses were not receiving
favorable responses to bids sent out
Tuesday night, there was a different
story from cash handlers.
Chicago, as well as Kansas City, re
ported heavy purchases of the new crop
over night. The states selling new wheot
were Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana,
Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Somo
of these states were pressing their grain
for sale, which caused the cash handlers
In Chicago to back away.
The first car of new wheat from the
southwest was received at Chicago yes
terday by the J. Roaenbaum Grain com
pany from Oklahoma. According to
Frank Rice, secretary of the Star and
Crescent Milling company, this grnln was
In milling condition. The first t ar of the
new crop received In Chicago last year
was on June 20.
Importing countries are resorting to
their old tactics of making purchases of
wheat In a sub-roa way. In a round of
the larger cash handlers yesterday It was
learned that not only Chicago, but the
southwestern markets, sold considerable
grain for foreign shipment, and that It
is to go out in August and September.
Additional vessel room was engaged at
the seaboard for ewly shipment, with
some of It to be loaded as early as the
first week In July.
The news on wheat from abroad was
both bearish and bullish. The markets
of the old world were all lower. The

two loads of Lehmer'B 77-pound lambs
as compared with 28.75 yesterday. The
bulk of tho clipped lambs moved around

As on yesterday It was largely a J9.O0

lambs that arrived among the receipts.
Another shipment of Oregon welhers

Membership List of
Ak-Sar-Ben May
Have to Be Limited
"If the present gain in Ak-5ar-Be
membership keeps up, it may even bo
como necessary this year for us to limit
the membership, a thing unique In the
history of the organization." said Ran
dall K. Brown, chairman of the hustllna;
commltteo of the organization, when ha
inado hie report at a meeting of tho com
mittee at the Paxton yesterday. "Wo
have gained eighty members in the last
week. There Is just one reason why the
membership might have to be limited,
and that Is that tho ball room at th
Den will accommodate only a certain
number, and if It comes to the point
where we seo we wltl run far over that
number, It might becomo absolutely nec
essary to limit tho membership. It Is not
likely that this will occur, but it Is a
possibility, for th ohustllng committee
has done excellent work and has yet a
good period ahead of It to work in."
The report showed that the total mom
bershlp Is now 2,105, a gain of 382 over the
same time last year. The. total numbjr
of names that have never been members
beforo is 735, which Is considered a re
markable record.
Tho hustling team of Potter, Meyers and.
Roslcky Is In the lead, with 835 memhera
to Its credit Tho team ot Pfelffer, Boyet;
and Crawford ts next, with 315 members.

HOOa Receipts were only fair this
morning, and in spite of the fact that
other points reported weakened prices
the local trade opened tn good shape, and
first sales were a shade higher than
yesterday's average. There was every
evidence of a good strong buying demand,
and a little reluctance to cut loose on
tho part of salesmen caueed things to
strengthen rapidly, so that the big end
of the sales looked to be a nickel higher
and some strings sold towards the close,
which was the best time, were nearly
4tl0c above yesterday's average, and
fully a nickel better than the good time.
In other words, trade opened about a
picket higher than Tuesday's first sales
and closed 6c better than the best time,
so that the market can be quoted as gen
erally 6o higher. Movement was fairly
active throughout and practically every,
thing had been sold by a. little after S:..
Bulk ot the sales was made at SS-OIViO
8.10. as compared with yesterday's bulk
of 17.97M4J8.06. and the biggest string ot
today's sales landed at t&CS, while 1100
was the most popular figure Tuesday.
Tops sold as high as 18.12H. being a flat
nickel higher than yesterday, and the
highest price that has been paid since
May 23, when 18.20 was the high mark.
Today's supply totals 126 cars, or about
t.600 head. The three days' receipts
foot up 3.31 aU4, being 9,000 Urge

Hundreds of people in
Omaha today are doing it.
You are losing and they are
gaining.
By this plan, you would within a very
few years own the title to the house you
live in and would no longer be paying rent
every month.
You would also have the profit which
comes from the increase in value of your
property. Omaha real estate is a most
promising investment.
Get into touch with some of these op
portunities through the Bee's real estate
columns. Read and investigate some of
the ads.
