Tho financial difficulties surrounding
the La. Sallo Street Trust and Savins
bank and the consequent failure of Sid
ney Long it Co. to meet their debts In
tho Hoard of Trade clearing house was
against the groin market. There was
a feeling of Mnrest and many were anx
ious to throw their grain Into the pit
and wait until tho financial cloud had
passed before making new commitments.
Tho fact that C. D. Munday, vice presi
dent of tho La Ballo Street bank, was
reported as tho controlling Interest in
tho grain house which was In financial
difficulties proved to be tho principal
fuctor favoring tho bears.
The open interest ot Sidney Long
Co. In tho market was not large, and
tho suspension of that concern was said
to have been because Of their inability
to meet the debit sheet in the Chicago
Board of Trade clearing house, their
money being tied up in tho La balle uank.
There was a partial halt In speculation
In the various markets following the an
nouncement of the financial difficulties

the receipts there during the next month

Oats suffered losses In sympathy with
the weak spots In wheat and corn. Tho

hard spots thoro was liberal soiling by
longs and tho buying was led by shorts.
Rains over part of the oats belt comblnod
with tho weakness In other grains had a
depressing effect.
The provisions trade was confined to a

the bride's only atendant Mr. and Mrs.
Copp will reside most of the time In New
York City.
The commencement exercises ot the
Dundee school were held Monday even
ing nt the Dundee Presbyterian church.
Besides the usual graduating exercises,
the class, assisted by the members ot tho
seventh grade and led by the principal,
Mrs. Peterson gave some unusually fine
musical selections, which received en
thusiastic applause from the large audi
ence. Tho twenty-five boys and girls oC
the graduating class are; Misses Dors,
