Away from Resolute
in the Fourth Race
RYE, N. Y June 7. The yacht Vanltle
turned the tables on the Resolute In the
fourth Long Island sound race, sailed to
day under tho auspices of the Lorchmont
Yacht club over a triangular course, win
nlng by five minutes and fifty-two seo-
onds In elapsed time.
As the Vanltle gives the Resolute an
estimated allowance over the twenty-nine
and three-quarters miles course of three
minutes and twelve seconds, the margin
was believed to have been two minutes
and forty seconds. Although sailed In
light to moderate winds which Wore some
what uncertain at times, the race was a
fairer test than the contest Tuesday.
which was. regarded as more or less of a
fluke, and which the Vanltle won by six
teen minutes and forty-eight seconds.
Except for the first two miles, tho race
today was more of a procession than
when the Resolute led the Vanltle in tho
second race Wednesday, which tho Bristol
boat won by eleven seconds. '
The yachts will be overhauled during
the next three days in preparation for
the three open sea contests next week off
Sandy Hook.
